Sure, here is the problem you have though: Michigan, Michigan St., Purdue, Illinois, Louisville, Kentucky, and to a lesser extent Ohio State are all out in front of us right now and our program has gone out of its way to NOT recruit that type of player for at least several years. Like seriously, this is preaching to the choir but I cannot think of another school that has ruined its brand as bad as our administration fumbled the ball on our basketball team. A literal masterclass in incompetence. str8baller, tkbbn, JF87 and 2 others 5 Quote

A literal masterclass in incompetence. Northwestern and Notre Dame have kids we could get, that Coach Cig would take on every other day that ends in "Y", but we pass on them! If we can figure out how to get a "team" of those kids together, I think DDV could build something here! Hopefully Carr can help figure this out! We need to keep it simple! The game of basketball is simple, we just over complicate it with metrics and other rankings and other BS! Love the game, love the game you are playing, and make sure everyone that watches you knows this! CSP 1 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted 23 hours ago Author Posted 23 hours ago Despite the title of this thread, no idea if we'll have any interest or not, but it is a significant player that is available. 4-star Kayden Allen has received his release from Cincinnati and will reopen his recruitment, he told @Rivals. The 6-5 shooting guard is a top-50 overall recruit in the 2026 class. Home Jersey, Demo, Dave from Dayton and 1 other 4 Quote

By the time you get past the 2nd week of April, you're operating in a talent pool that has been substantially drained. Dave from Dayton, Stuhoo, Asha’man and 2 others 5 Quote

Never felt like it went anywhere, though it may have been a function of being the year they went all in on the portal. Apparently had a Tennessee offer so Clark may have been involved with him. RaceToTheTop Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago SIAP, IU has said they would decline an opportunity to play in the NIT or Crown. Not a surprise. I would guess that USC will as well as Musselman will want to hit the portal. Not sure about Washington. I could see Northwestern interested in playing in the Crown since that could give their team that didn't have much NIL get some more. Quote

I was listening to a Michigan podcast after we hired Carr and they said the top 4 teams at that time had a GM and the rest of the top 25 did not or only a ceremonial one. Evidently Duke has had one for years. Michigan, Florida, and Arizona were the other 4. So IU is aligning with the elite of college basketball in terms of structure and modernizing that aspect of the program while also overhauling the play style. EasyEJay Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago I've seen a lot of talk about some state of Indiana kids (Haralson and Orme the most) I would caution about getting excited about any kid with state connections right now HS or portal. There is just nothing about this program that is appealing right now. IU needs multiple years of even just some success (showing they can win at least 20 games and make the tourney) and stabilization before most Indiana kids will even consider the program sadly . Whether its Purdue or going out of state too many HS / portal guys are having success. Heck theirs too many guys in both categories to even list. What does IU have to sell these kids except money? (which apparently isn't much more than other programs?) especially after the PT issues w/ Trent Sisley this year? He was robbed of a year of development as a basketball player for what? Reed bailey, Jasi Miles, or 4 good games of Nick Dorn? Would we really have been worse than 18-14 if Trent Sisley was playing 18 min a game and allowed to play through mistakes? other of many frustrating things about the state of program right now ........... skhoosier2 1 Quote

Uspshoosier Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Rod Clark was one of Tennessee top assistants and Barnes was pissed when he left. It is what it is. He went hard after 2 assistants that worked with him before but are at programs that are in better positions than IU is currently. They both got pay raises from their bosses at places that are willing to spend money on basketball. It happens. Frazier wasn’t going to work at IU, Ostrum had already failed at IU as an assistant and the former IU player on his staff got the head coaching job at Oral Roberts. In an effort to keep threads organized and on topic, please limit posts in this thread to 'Transfer Portal with IU Interest' players. Thanks go iu bb 1 Quote
