He should have been let go after year 1 considering the was a HOF coach coming back to the college game.
But he had a good year so there was no way they would fire him after that. He took 4th in conference and won 21 games. Would have been hard to justify firing him.

I could have written down that you & Indy would respond. I said to keep him for his 4th year because of his tourney appearances also.

Imagine thinking a coach should be judged on anything other than his actual job performance and future outlook?

You never would have had to fire him. He was never actually the "head coach". He coached year 1 under the interim tag.

I guess my thing is comparing one lousy coach (CMW) to another (CAM) is a recipe for continued mediocrity. Woody hasn’t earned  another year (on or off the court), imho.

I think two straight NCAA tourney appearances he has. So we will disagree. It's all good. There is a reason I posted what I did, and I knew I would get the responses I've gotten.

Race-baiting on internet message boards by day, top informant by night.

Is there anything you can't do?

We can agree to disagree, for sure. Losing to St. Mary’s by 30 then turning around and losing to Miami by 16th next year is underwhelming to me. Couple that with being blown out at home by Purdue and Penn State (Penn State?!?!?!) as well as teams like Nebraska and Rutgers is not good enough for me. Not in year 3.
Maybe if we were competitive I’d feel differently, or improving as they year progresses. But I don’t see that. We have a team that (by and large) is phoning it in and that is unacceptable to me and it’s on the coach.

I think it's really bad optics when you let the white coach get 4 years without making an NCAA tourney (yes we may have gone in 2020) but fire the former player black coach in year 3 after making back-to-back NCAA tournaments. Just my opinion. I know people will say race shouldn't matter but it absolutely does.

100%!  As fan of IU basketball, I would not like to see the university go down that road.  He’s going to get another year.

And our losses are by an average of like 14 points so when we lose it's generally pretty bad.

The problem is those were all Trayce.  Everyone knows it.

And still went just two games over .500 in the B10. We finished 3 games out of first place last year in a very down B10 despite being almost a unanimous pre-season pick and are nowhere close to competing for a conference title in an even worse B10 this year. We have one recruit signed next year with a very real possibility of turning over 75% of the roster.

12-8

^^Alright Purdue math Poindexter. Enough with the slide rule.^^

Us IU law school guys will be glad to explain the alternative argument justifying why 12-8 is two games over.
