and 9-11 in year one. 21-19 (aka 2 games over .500) through 2 years with a 2x AA isn't anything to brag home about.

24-21 in all B1G games if you want to get technical.   Yep that’s where the program you are invested in is at right now.   That’s still the best 2 year stretch for a coach in over 6 years for the program

Archie was 9-9 his first year with Juwan Morgan as his best player.

I get it. We haven't had a good coach in about 15 or so years so not a high bar to clear.

B1G got 4 teams in the tourney that year.    Down year for the B1G that year.

Archie also inherited a team that lost its top 4 scorers from the year prior (on a team that wasn't very good to begin with) and didn't have the luxury of the undergrad portal.

I am no archie fan but Woodson gets way to much credit for the last two years imo.

It's Indiana. A coach that shows they aren't good enough needs 1 more year minimum, we have to make the sure next guy has to completely start from scratch.
Yep but this coch has an ace up his sleeve named Quinn. He will be here as long as he wants.

I'd be a lot more sympathetic towards Woodson if he was actually building and fostering a foundation and culture. He isn't. He's bringing in mercenary after mercenary and plugging them into a system with zero identity.

Still went 9-9 in a down B1G.    And didn’t beat 1 NCAA tournament quality team.  Lost  to 2 in state teams that was triple digits in the NET.    Woody in 3 years has finally lost his first game to a team that is 100+ and that’s Penn St and they are 100.   Anyone can come up with numbers to make it look good or bad for any coach.  At the end of the day it doesn’t matter results are what they are.    I’m far from a woody fan but I’m realistic as to where this program is.  If he is let go it’s not going to be for results if anything it should be for lack of exposure in recruiting.

Don't mistake my post as praise for Archie Miller. Being only slightly better than Archie Miller shouldn't earn you another year. But that seems to be our bar however. Oh and he's also black so that should count for something according to one.

I think it's really bad optics when you let the white coach get 4 years without making an NCAA tourney (yes we may have gone in 2020) but fire the former player black coach in year 3 after making back-to-back NCAA tournaments. Just my opinion. I know people will say race shouldn't matter but it absolutely does.

Archie Miller's 3rd season ended in March 2020, when covid was just getting started. That's a pretty big reason he got a 4th.

Nobody was getting let go in March of 2020. Concerns about athletics were understandably put on the backburner.

All indications were that we were pretty solidly in the tournament after beating Nebraska the first night of the BTT, so he wouldn't have been fired anyway.

He was fired the very next season.

This is most frustrating for me. I know rabby has reported that his methods in recruiting are changing due to lack of results in long, drawn out recruitments. But it might be too late.

It has to change for the '25 class.

Down the road of firing an underperforming coach? The horror.

It’s more the race issue.   by my own opinion he has underperformed this year.  But last year and year 1, that maybe looked at as meeting expectations.  Regardless of what you and I say on this message board, he’s going to get 1 more year at least.

Yes, it would be bad optics.  I've stated elsewhere in these forums that a justification could be made to move on from coach Woodson because the team underperformed based on the talent on the roster.  I do understand that firing Woodson is not going to happen.  Race and the appearance of being discriminatory may be a small reason.  That coach Woodson is a beloved former player is another reason and IU's financial obligation yet another.  My hope is that Woodson will realize that being a college coach, and all that it entails, is not a good fit for him and that he will retire.  I would also hope that Scott Dolson believes that we have underperformed and that he would entice coach Woodson to retire sooner rather than later.

I don’t think it’s too late because the portal can help bridge the gap and possibly bail him out of this short term

Just so I have this correct you're saying that Archie was going to make the tournament and still be fired in his 3rd season if there was no covid? If so I disagree about that. But as I'm learning most people on here know more about this stuff than I do.

That is exactly what I was trying to say but you said it much better than I did. Thank you.
