They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread

Yeah I know he will get at least a good portion of the money.  But if he came in today and said, F off, I quit, he likely cost himself a few bucks.

His agent will just tell IU he’s not stepping down today, forcing IU to fire him, and triggering the whole buyout. His agent won’t let him actually “quit.”

If he actually uttered the words "I quit", that definitely wasn't smart on his part. Not saying he won't get the full amount remaining but he would have less leverage.

I once left a job and told one of the managing directors I was leaving for a new job in a few weeks. Two days later, they let everyone in my division go and paid everyone severances. Guess who didn't get a severance? I know the situation is totally apples to oranges but from a legal perspective, how you leave matters.

I’m guessing you didn’t have a multi-year guaranteed contract.

Coach Requirements:

- Didn’t play at Indiana University.
- Head D1 P4 Experience (Winning Record/%)
- National Championship appearance

It’s not that hard Dolson!

Fixed it, because otherwise the best candidate wouldn't qualify.

IU won't care.  Basically in those circumstances it goes to arbitration anyway.

Which is why I said he may still get the full amount and that the situation was apples to oranges.

Either way, if he said the words "I quit" it was very dumb.

If it was Beard they would just let Woody finish the season. If we have reached an agreement with someone else we can move on now

But didn’t they try to have woody finish the season?

Woodson is so arrogant that I’m sure he will announce that he’s going to meet with the students at Dunn Meadow. He thinks he will get the support that coach Knight did..lol

He'd be in for a disappointment when he sees no one showed up.

Our buddy Thyme on X is saying he is coaching until the end of the year. Let's see if he deletes this tweet too.

Why would he start coaching now?

Anyway, if Tyme is nothing more than a mouthpiece for Woodson anyway he is probably trying to spin it that Woodson didn't resign as Woody hopes for more $.
