That Eric Gordon year was special until it wasn't.  The beginning of the zeller sophomore year was the last time I felt like I did with IU basketball since the final four run. Unfortunately that year started off with the crossroads loss to Butler and we just never lived up to expectations! People were talking undefeated before that season and I just knew there was mo living up to that, and then that haunted 2-3 zone found us in the sweet 16.

Unfortunately no. My first real IUBB memories were from the Sampson era.

Damn I want IU to be a national name again!

There never really had to be any bad times but it's all self inflicted by god awful hiring decisions. Good coaches would have taken this job.

You’ve been hanging out with Hornby!  I get it though, I think deep down we wonder if the administration will actually let him go because there are too many influences involved

I HAVE NOT! LOL

We had a good coach, who did misdemeanor $hit that isn't even against the law anymore! We were playing some damn good basketball the year he got relieved off his duties!

And before anyone jumps on about the characters on that team, I get it. His teams since have been decent character wise.

I also think Beard has changed too. Maybe he can rise from the ashes here like Sampson has at Houston!

I was born in 87 so I got to watch RMK growing up and after what my dad taught me about his coaching style and his success I studied him. I'm a firm believer in prepare and practice until it becomes 2nd nature and automatic. 10,000 thoughtful focused reps to mastery and absolutely no half a$$ing. Earn your spot.

I truly believe that the will to prepare to win is gone in this program!

Kind of how the 3rd generation F&$%s up a family business!

Absolutely and if you don't have that mindset to do your prep work long before you start handling your business you're all but guaranteed to fail.

Also, with RMK, you didn't just go through the motions! Everything you did was with a purpose and you were stronger as a whole than as an individual!

Five players on the floor functioning as one single unit: team, team, team - no one more important than the other.

Coach Norman Dale: I've seen you guys can shoot but there's more to the game than shooting. There's fundamentals and defense.

Exactly! That's why I said thoughtful focused reps and not just reps. You can do 10,000 and be better than you were, but being mindful and putting real effort into those reps will set you worlds apart from where you started and it will very clearly show in the finished product.

Yes it is, everything you do in life benefits from that mindset! RMK wasn't just teaching his guys how to be great basketball players, but great men in life!
