Soon to RETIRE Coach Woodson Thread

Stevens won't be here. Everybody needs to get over that name.

I hope you’re wrong. But we’ll see. It certainly seems like a long shot, but it’s now or never for him to IU.  If a guy like May gets hired, IU won’t have a change for 15+ years.

If Stevens ends up at IU I cannot wait to quote so many of these downers. It’s okay to be excited about a possibility.

Except it's not a possibility. We have two past coaching searches where everybody was just so sure Stevens, Donovan, and every other "hot" name was coming here, and look at what we wound up with. Archie and Mike. I'll take the track record of that past "sure thing" over the same tired lines now. Stevens won't be at IU.

Why not?  It’s been posted here that the timing could work this time around for Brad and his family.

Archie was the hot name at the time. It just didn’t work out.

There's a better chance that Woodson returns next season that Stevens prowling the sidelines. IU has proven over and over that they can't manage the hiring of a successful basketball coach. I have no confidence that they'll magically get it right this time.

Why are you telling people what they need to do? I can guarantee you that Stevens has a better chance of being the head coach of IU than Chris Beard will ever have.

Because it's a free country, Karen. I can post the same stuff that anybody else can. You're for it, I'm against it. See how that works?

I can see the comparison now... "you fired a coach for making phone calls and hired an alcoholic woman beater"?

Who's worried about optics now?

....exactly. lol

Is there a more pointless exercise than logging onto an internet fan forum to tell fans to not dream or have hope? Not sure what that accomplishes. Not like our dialogue influenced the coaching search outcome. If you think it’s unrealistic or silly, feel free to ignore rather than suck joy and rain on parades, lol

Nah, I'm gonna spout my opinion just the same as the rest of this board.

That's just silly because:

  1. The chances of Mike Woodson being coach next season are ZERO.
  2. So, even if the chances of Stevens are also zero, the worst it could be is a tie with the chances of Woodson returning.

QB hired Woodson. Dolson hired Matta.  QB won out.

even though Archie didn’t work out, it was still considered a good hire.

Obviously you don't know much because I'm for Beard. But coming from the administration side it's just not likely. But you do you

We are rapidly approaching the point of that no longer mattering IMO. Mike can find out he is retiring the same way we learned he was coming back last season for all I care (in an article from the Indy Star citing an unnamed source in the Athletic Department). The AD has an obligation to make sure Saturday doesn’t devolve into 1) a complete zoo 2) one of the programs most embarrassing moments in recent history. And that’s saying something, because there’s been a lot of those in the last 25 years.

25 days.  (fixed it).
