Fire Coach Woodson Thread

Recommended Posts

Our current coach is Mike Woodson, we’re already in the circus.
It would be awesome. He would bring the most energy back into the fan base imo. It would be the only hire worth waiting this year

Judging by the game they coached without Woodson vs minn two years ago thy aren't impressive. Minnesota was down to six scholarship players and we barely won.

That actually sounds like a lot of games MW has coached when we are favored, which are rare these days

Yes probably better but it just shows he knows he’s done. No media interviews, hasn’t done his own radio show in weeks.

They should pause his paychecks. Seriously, if it is in his contract to do these things and he is no showing then don’t pay him

Well, he should save us all the trouble and just announce he'll be retiring at the end of the year to spend more time with the family.  Guarantee it would make his life much easier as nobody will expect anything from him.

It was reported to be his "dream job" many moons ago... before Boston... and he passed the last time IU came calling... maybe the overall situation has changed enough to make him and the Mrs reconsider... not holding my breath...

Also, how long has he been out of coaching? Longer than The Parasite King was, I think.

Yeah, I just don't see it.  Things are way different now.  And after having the structure of the NBA (drafts, contracts, salary cap) vs. college (NIL, revenue sharing, unlimited transfers) why would any sane person take a college job?  It's un-workable long term.

I actually think what he’s been doing the last few years is better for us than his coaching. Learning how to put a team together. No one forgets how to coach. But not everyone can assemble a team. I dominated the junior high ranks for 6 years coaching, then took 10 years off and came back better than ever. :-)

Did you use the hottest mom strategy to pick the team?   :)

I just don't see Stevens happening. Not now, and probably not ever...

I don’t think he coaches again. Boston being sold means nothing. He’d be the hottest GM on the market and close to the hottest NBA coach on the market if that was reality. I’d like to think IU still has that kind of pull, but there’s nothing about our program to convince me of that. It would be like Harbaugh going to Michigan. The only people on planet earth that thought he’d go back to college were Michigan fans. And that’s a guy whose dad coached there, played there, and grew up in Ann Arbor. Hope I’m wrong I guess, but I just can’t get on the Stevens train. It’s Dusty May first and then work the list.

Shhhh.  Positive vibes only.  Brad Stevens will be the next coach of the Indiana Hoosiers... until he says no last minute and we end up hiring Randy Whittman.

His son is at Notre Dame, his daughter is a junior in high school and a pretty good soccer player. Celtics are for sale and he won an NBA championship. But no one really knows the answer to your question. Hopefully he has the coaching bug again.

And we now have a womens soccer coach opening. Our prior coach was not liked very well by many of the top instate talent. Clearly this is Dolson improving things to attract a rising star player from Boston

I like that your closest analogy is a case where the long-shot candidate did end up going back home, and won a championship to boot.

Not much is really expected from him now. All he had to do was take his highest priced team in the league and not get blown out by 20 against average teams. Finish top four and compete and the cooks and Simon's are cutting you another check next spring. The expectations aren't that high.
