Which doesn't firmly put them in the NCAA tourney.

For you maybe but others would have them firmly in with those 6 wins.  Committee using a new metric makes things interesting as well.  Wins above bubble WAB. IU is in the 30s.  If they win the 6 your talking about their WAB would improve more then it is already is which in my opinion will be the metric they use at the bottom of the bubble

Everyone wants Woodson gone-1000%.

Why wouldn’t everyone want this team in the tournament?

The two concepts don’t have to be exclusive of each other.

People struggle to believe a move will be made if he has any tournament success

That’s exactly what it is because they don’t trust QBall and Ferguson to not influence the situation for another year.  The fans don’t trust either one of them to do the right thing for the university and they don’t trust that the administration will allow Dolson to make AD decisions!

I think Woodson is just as likely to go after making the tournament and handing it over. Publicly, it was said he would be the bridge to the next hire. This would be perfect timing if we have the splash hire in the wings.

At best, we’ll get in as a 10 or 11 seed and get our doors blown off by somebody like Georgia in our first game.  I doubt that would be seen as success.

Just getting in by our chiny chin chin and losing a 1st or 2nd round game isn’t success; however, this team does have the talent to go farther than that and most don’t want to see that based on what I posted above

It would make us fans feel at ease if they would just make an announcement that he would be stepping down after the year but the problem is, he thinks he’s doing a good job and has no desire to do that!  There lies the major problem

It might be by the admin - the people in control. There's absolutely no trust in the administration to do what needs to be done. Rooting for IU to lose/not make the tourney is heartbreaking but if there's even a .00001% chance of him staying with a tourney birth, I can't get excited after wins. Just can't.

For a guy who's "done [my] job", getting in IS success. Don't feed the parasite.

Oh, I get it.
The argument I don’t buy into is that the IU administration is going to screw things up based on past mistakes.

Different regime. Different circumstances.

Faith is a fleeting concept here.

We know damn well the "killer instinct" they supposedly had going into the OSU game and the fight Mike had in him to live to see another day will all be worn off and they're gonna go right back to who they really are come Wednesday. Beyond predictable.

Exactly because I said it earlier, a leopard doesn’t change their spots and old habits are hard to break.  It takes 21 days to develop a habit, that is why them playing hard won’t be sustainable

The best predictor of future action is past, relevant action.

I hope that the administration does the necessary deed, but there ain't no guarantee in this thing.

Woodson should be gone after the season or before. To get another year he would need a big ten championship or a elite 8. We fired crean for not getting past sweet 16 so woodson is done even if he makes the tournament. I believe we won't get close to making the tournament. I predict it gets ugly starting Wednesday

They also say it takes 10,000 repetitions to perfect something.

This thread is at 33,000+ posts .

Taking away the positive posts from a few, including myself for a while, we have perfected the concept of Woodson needs to go.

I was just saying why some people would almost rather see the team lose as opposed to win and make the tournament

And I hope you’re right. I truly do. I’m just tired of IU accepting average results.
Before I retired, if I had a person reporting to me with Woodson’s record, he’d be fired. Not even a question. In fact, I would have been gone if it didn’t make a change. And we are talking about positions that made maybe $200k. Good money but not what Woodson is making. But IU fans are supposed to take it. I truly hope we make a change. But the fact that we accept what is being put out for this kinda money is amazing to me.

Be honest, though. You never would've hired someone with Woodson's background for such a prominant or high-paying position in the first place, so you never would've been forced to fire him. It's still baffling that IU hired someone with zero college coaching experience to run their flagship athletic position and paid him millions of dollars to do it.

And to make matters worse, he hadn't even been a head coach in the pros for years...
