Fire Coach Woodson Thread

IU has  2 true roads over other bubble teams.  That’s huge when you are comparing resumes.  Maryland has 0 true road wins.   IU has 3 wins away from home.   IU fans that want a change see a resume that should be better from what was expected.   Outsiders see a resume that has some good stuff on it and some not so good stuff which is why almost everyone as of today has them in the last 4 in or first 4 out.

Not being a smart @$$, but will the committee call the win at the palestra a true road win? Or will it be neutral?

Not sure where "here" is... but in my neck of Arizona, it's 15ºF (feels like 4º) with a projected high of 40º ... e a

should be a bit warmer in the Phoenix area...

Born and raised in Indiana, but spent some time as a low lander in the valley...Scottsdale to be exact. Still out West, just traded my noon tee times for a snow shovel.

Since Woodson is his godson, I think that’s what we all heard, I kind of understand that.  But the guy has way too much influence in the basketball program and he shouldn’t
He clearly is compromised and cannot be objective regarding Woodson. Yet here we are.

This was suppose to be his "best" team, yet, they are not currently ranked nor projected to make the dance. That's on the coaching staff.
Correct and yet I can already see the narrative changing to just making the tourney being a success. I read a guy who said but we are 14-5 and that's a good record.

Not really.   3 wins away from home is carrying its weight.   Lucky for this will work itself out.   IU will either win enough to get in or they won’t

Yes we have 3 wins away from home. All 3 against bad teams. And I get 2 are Q1 but they are only good on paper. As for Providence, they are our only Q2 game period right now and 14 spots from falling to Q3. I highly doubt the committee will care at all about that game.

Only good “on “paper?” Yes, the paper is the objective criteria considered, your subjective assessment doesn’t matter, but you know that.

Human eyeballs are important as well. And human eyeballs will let you know, Penn State and Ohio State are not good.

If they played in Indy, would that be considered a home win ?

If IU had 100% of the ticket allocation? Yes

The Penn State game is regarded as a true road game. Already been established.

Depends.  The NET has a precedent of declaring Palestra games home games.  PSU controls the ticketing and game operations, and it was a home game atmosphere.

If we decided to move a conference game to Indianapolis, I think they would consider that a home game for us.  But I’m not 100% sure about that.  Might be a case-by-case determination.

No. Because they've not beaten anyone and have gotten pummeled when they have.

To achieve a one through seven seed they haven't beaten anyone. But for a true maybe/maybe not bubble team they most certainly have beaten someone: Penn State and Ohio State on the road, S Carolina, Rutgers, and Providence are all really helpful wins for a questionable resume.

I'm not really disagreeing with your eventual conclusion that they have a ton more work to do, but for IU to get enough wins to be in they will almost have to add some notable wins to the 'kinda good' wins they already have. So If they go 5-7 in the last 12 conference games for a 10-10 overall they will get those wins and be on the bubble going into the B1G tourney.

Makes the NW and Maryland games hugely important; win those and we need to go 3-7 in conference afterward to stand a fairly good chance; lose them both and we need to go 5-5 against an incredibly tough schedule and we are probably toast.

South Carolina is not a helpful game for a resume. They are horrid and Q3 game. Rutgers the same. Providence is getting close to Q3 territory at 87th(101 would drop them). I think to get a 7 seed we would have to win 14 conference games. Hell out B1G champs in 2016 were 15-3 and got a 5 seed. That team did take some lumps losing to a bad Wake Forest and UNLV teams and getting whooped at Duke, but I'd equate that to getting your doors blown off by Louisville and Gonzaga. Beating Providence this year is no different than beating St. Johns that year. And beating Creighton no different(a little better) than South Carolina. But that team also beat a good Notre Dame team in Indy. 11 wins *could* get us in, but I think 12 is the magical number. Gotta have a signature win over Purdue, Wisconsin or Michigan State. NEED it.

It's a glorious day I'm not blocked by Tyme anymore. But he's unhappy because I said he and Scott Dolsons Burner hate the program.

Yea BUT scottdolsonsburner told me it'd be a big shock when he reveals himself. He's also never denied my claim of him being paid to stick up for Woody.
