Fire Coach Woodson Thread

Well we have been told Woody is cooking...so there lies the problem.  Apparently not one of them can boil water FML! (regards to only my Hoosier BBALL life that is).  Can any of them boil an egg?

I wouldn’t plan a meal schedule around them. Was struck by how tired and lethargic he looked in last night’s press conference. He’s always been pretty stoic, but he needed a blood pressure check last night.

You’re inferring something that doesn’t exist for obvious reasons.

I’m not inferring anything. You said, and I quote, “Did you attend IU” to a person on an internet forum. Which I fundamentally disagree with as standard of practice. How someone came to their fandom is of no bearing on how they express their opinions.

It is no great jump to see what your line of questioning to several people was an attempt at. Now, tell me you were honestly just “curious” and not trying to condescend your superior IU credentials.

For the record, I generally enjoy your inputs. This rubbed me the wrong way, and I say that as a person with two degrees from IU who did not grow up an IU fan, but came to love the university when we moved to Indiana as a child.

You don’t have any inside information or more knowledge about the program than the average fan on here.
Maybe if I repeat this three times, you’ll finally vanish. Like a reverse Beetlejuice!

Lol.

You inferred that my question was posed in an effort to degrade someone’s degree of support of the program. That’s where you were incorrect. Sorry if that rubbed you the wrong way, but I’m often curious about the origins of our fans.

I do not believe Brad Stevens or Dusty May or Bruce Pearl will be interested in the IU job but I don't think that's really going out on a limb.

I have talked myself into Chris Beard over the last few weeks...don't see the admin taking that approach however. I think Chris Mack deserves a second chance somewhere, I would be ok if that place was here.

Names like Ben McCollum, Bucky McMillan, Micah Shrewsbury, Josh Schertz, etc are all names that have all been floated around for some time now. I believe the next hire is much likely to come from that candidate pool. I don't think any of those guys would have a prayer here.

Any more than Mediocre Mike?  LOL.

Mike Davis and Dan Dakich come to mind as a couple of data points. I guess Pat Riley was a good interim coach several decades ago. And Jerry Oliver.

I am way behind the thread count, however, let's reference OSU last year.  When they did a mid-season changing of the guard, they went 9-4 with 3 post season wins.  I would say that was motivation and "face saving" for a visceral OSU fan base.

I’m not missing the point but I definitely am not convinced we have our “Diebler” at the ready. Since you seemingly are, who should we retain as the interim coach?

Put a rock there.  Who cares?  The decision isn't about winning games this season.  It is about dialing down the emotions.  Turn down the temperature and start talking to people behind the scenes.  Put Hunter or Ya in charge.  Or don't even fore Woodson.  All you have to do is convince the dude to announce his retirement at year end.  Mike Davis announced he was leaving during the season and finished out the year and all the craziness kind of died with that announcement.

It isn't the who that matters, it is getting the message out there definitively that a new direction is being taken at year end.

I'd like to throw my hat in the ring.  Coached 5yo's through HS for the past 15 years.  I've got some old school in me and some Dakich-like toughness but have a new age softness around the edges.  (A perfect mixture i'd conjecture. haha)

For 3 million a year i'd live and breathe the job.  I've got a keen basketball eye and can spot good and bad basketball in an instance.  I'm a solution based individual and I think KathywithaC should toss my hat in the ring as potential interim candidate that would kick some arse.

Go for it! I know some people and would be happy to put in a good word for you. I think DoctorP is chairing the search committee, so you might touch base with him / her, as well.

This is funny AF...if they did maybe we could pull of a '85 Villanova type championship.

what would the drawback be with where we currently are? Ohhhh "drug users".... least I wouldn't have to watch that boring s*** like last night. We don't even fight well.

Someone jack someone's jaw.

It'd be like the MLB allowing the Roids. Entertaining as hell for the rest of us.

You claim to have insider info and have also said Stevens wasn’t realistic last time.  My Dad knows one of our 8 figure donors pretty well and he always has his finger on the pulse.  He told my Dad right after Archie was canned that we were getting Steven’s and it was nearly a done deal.  The only potential roadblock according to him was Tracy.  I don’t think you know anything.

Dialing down the emotions is the objective? Interesting - I have been told that none of this is emotionally based, though it’s also been communicated that any emotional outbursts are the fault of the University.

Are we still giving Woodson a party on his last game and thanking him for saving the program? He did his job.

If he announces retirement before the next 25pt loss I will absolutely donate for a retirement party. I'll send a card, some cash, and a stogie

Looking for a “competent” replacement won’t be inhibited by a six or seven week gap in time.

This broads a Woody sycophant trying desperately to hide it....Do we even know this is an actual woman?? Hell, it could be Woody himself....too much weight on the fans are the problem, ignorant, visceral...etc...."Why fire him now"? Seriously, who would ask that question but someone who is clueless....If this breaks any rules, I apologize for using "broad".....Im old...what can I say

I appreciate the response, and I will take you at your word. However, I hope you can appreciate the optics of someone claiming to be within the AD or having sources thereof, then asking people about their alumni status and when they became fans after being disagreed with is pretty suspect and reads as elitism. Maybe you were just curious; maybe not I don’t know, but I know the perception behind questions like that.
