Fire Coach Woodson Thread

The starting 5 today needs to be the starters the rest of the year. Reneau, Leal and Tucker only guys who need to come off the bench. 8 man rotation.

I agree with that but the question is, is that what is going to actually happen?

I’ve mellowed too! And I just hide the posts that are name-calling or piss me off. So back on topic please and no posts that are purely name calling.

If you don’t like what another poster says? Let the mods handle if it’s inappropriate and if it’s simply an opinion that you disagree with? Deal with it.

Or better yet, throw him on your ignore list. Blissful I tell ya

So anyway, I have no idea how to even predict the game that MR returns. Do we go back to two bigs and suffer or did Woodson learn from today and rotate Ballo and Reneau from now on? Thoughts?

Woody says it’s gonna be a while. Yet my source says it’s nothing major. I don’t know how to balance those 2. Seems we might be missing him next week as well.

As far as the 2 big thing, I think it’ll work itself out. I said earlier it’s less about 2 bigs and more about 3 bigs. I think you can play 2 of them. Hustle needs to keep up. Rebounding was better but some teams are still gonna feast on us from 3.

I don’t think the starting lineup matters as much as one of MR or OB are coming off the bench. We’d be so tough starting a first team all PAC center and bringing our leading scorer off the bench. Or vice versa, doesn’t really matter, but we are so much better without two bigs on the floor. MM can drive on 4s, and get more open looks like tonight. Rice has so much more space to operate. Carlyle seems like a miss right now, but I think it’s also a side effect of being a shooting guard who can’t shoot. Defense is great though.

I kind of agree but MR and Ballo on the court together seems to cause hitches in our play in a few ways on both offense and defense. Woodson clearly runs a big centric play style but having both on the floor together disrupts the rest of the team. It's the Ballo Reneau show and it feels like the rest of the team just kind of fades to let them carry when we need all five being active on the court, as they were today. We say Reneau is not great defensively but that's a lot of the team most of the time especially on the perimeter. Hard to say how much of that is poor defensive coaching and how much of it is the rest of the team mirroring their bigs, which they kind of do in a few ways. Today they were matching Ballo and there was a big difference. It goes back to the big centric style, which means the team is going to play around them. Ballo was wound up and the rest of the team elevated to match it defensively. Rotating Ballo and Reneau would also keep us from being super swingy as far as giving up a lead too, as Reneau is a scorer. His defense leaves a lot to be desired yes but he would at least be putting up points to reduce how much our leads get cut by. MM is going to do what he does and jack threes from the wing or corner. I agree that all three don't need to be on the floor at the same time but the team feeds off of Ballo and Reneau so they do need to be rotated in my opinion. Ballo should start, Reneau should come in off the bench.

Quinn doesn't care about football. Dolson was allowed to make his own decision on cig. Dolson is not running the bbal program imo. If he was I'm pretty sure Woodson would not have been back. But now all tge momentum is with the keep Woodson camp. Win 12 big ten games and one in the tourney and he is safe as can be.

But it’s also okay to be critical of a 6 point win given the metrics of how it happened. As you stated earlier, a good team turns that shooting performance into a 20+ point win.

Thats the main crux of the last like ten pages of back and forth in the Fire Mike Woodson thread. I made my comments pro-win in the game thread and came here to vent my displeasure with how it happened. People hanging out in a thread designated for complaining about CMW, being trolled for hanging out in a thread designated for complaining about CMW. It happens every time we have an unexpected win, it’s all good it’s just silly.

He's called mediocre Mike for a reason.  These wins, plus the non-confernce wins, where mediocre at best.  There really wasn't any where we showed up and "announced our presence with authority."

Jeebus Christmas, you can be happy your team won and acknowledge the details of each game, good and bad.

This fanbase needs therapy. Everyone probably agrees on that.

Exactly.  The Bears beat the Packers today and sucked doing it.  :)

The pre game board was 7-33 in favor of PSU. Understand where you’re coming from, but can’t be both ways.

Either they aren’t that good, or we beat a good team

I don’t actively root for the demise of a sitting head coach and actually want the Hoosiers to win.

I’m the furthest thing from a troll. I’m also not miserable either.

Why are you posting in this thread then? Just curious....other than trolling....

The answer is much implied, but let me state it directly:

  1. We were ahead for the entire final 19:42 of the game.
  2. We beat them on the road.
  3. We beat a good team.

Wasn't his money.  But tells you how bad it bacame under Allen.  :)

That's what made it even harder, he had to raise the money.  Even worse, he had to explain that he was the person who increased his buyout three years earlier haha.

An average team played better than average to beat another average team. We were 7.5 underdogs which is very sad that were ever an underdog in basketball to PSU

You might be too mellow if you think that was a good team. I haven't seen them much but nothing about them yesterday showed me anything other than average.
