I don't care that he is 64. Sampson is 69 and just landed three top 20 recruits for 2025.

Brad or Dusty that should be the list.

1) Brad (I think it’s a total Hail Mary but Dolson may as well throw it)

2) Torn between Dusty and McCollum personally but they’d probably prioritize May. If he’s anything less than enthusiastically on board, lock in on McCollum and throw everything you have at him.

These are the three I think everyone would be most excited about and I’d rather not go past this list. I am sure there are a handful of relative unknowns who could do quite well here. Can’t wait for the day we are genuinely excited about IUBB again.

We need a proven winner to turn this around right now even if it's only for 5 years. Can't take a risk on a 40 year old up and comer.

My only fear in going with someone like McCollum...this fan base is fractured, tired and seething for immediate success.

If you hire a big name, the fan base may be more likely to point to prior success and give them some grace. I fear the negativity would fire up quickly for a largely unproven lower level coach if they don't have immediate success. As a fan base, we have been told "a coach needs time" for the last 8 years...not sure that will fly again with whoever we hire given the current NIL environment and resources available, where you can flip rosters and teams year 1.

As much as I'd love us to find an up and coming diamond that can lead our program to glory, I worry about going that route vs. a proven winner at this level.

I'm a huge fan of the Cignetti method... find someone who's won consistently at the lower levels, give them the resources they need to win and watch it grow.

A guy like Pearl might truly be a bridge pick, but we're seeing how that could play out... I agree with Home Jersey that Brad Stevens is a long shot, but agree with "why not"...

But my gut tells me to go with someone like Dusty or McCollum... I'm getting old, and not sure that I have time left to wait out a 4-5 year rebuild... I know that I don't have the stomach for it.

I think you'll be extremely disappointed if you're expecting either Beard or Pearl to ever be the head coach at IU.

D2 National Championships, yes. But he hasn't won consistently at the D1 level...yet. He is in his first year at Drake.

I am not saying he isn't a great coach and wouldn't have success, I was merely pointing out I think there would be a much shorter leash with the fan base for someone like him vs. a proven D1 winner.

Dolson will not be looking for someone that appeases or gets a long leash from the fan base. He will be looking for someone that can consistently win at a high level.

And how pissed is Woodson that Coach Cig is making almost double his base salary plus incentives? It's gotta sting just a little bit... and Cig got his boys over the hump right away.

Cig never had a hump! He preemptively laid explosives in said hump, blew it to pieces, and had a paving crew lay the nicest stretch of asphalt IU football has ever seen!

That's why he gets paid the big bucks...and for all of our sakes, I hope he makes the right choice haha.

Yea, he really highlighted Woody’s deficiencies and gave the fans an alternative to Woody’s garbage.  Attendance has been poor, the number of true fans is dwindling.

Watch Drake play and tell me McCollum is a risk or “up and comer” in any sense but age alone. Lol. 10-0 with basically a D2 team against a pretty good schedule so far in year 1. 4 D2 titles. The guy is going to win like Cignetti no matter where he goes.

If we don't go the big name proven D1 Route, he definitely intrigues me the most out of any of the other options.

Maybe Coach Cig can assist Dolson in the search process, lol!
