Gunn or Leal as the starting 2 illustrates how limited our options are.

I agree, but Woodson has no options because his headcase point guard have left him no choice.  Cupps can’t shoot and just needs to come off the bench.  I would rather see him try to develop Gunn or Leal in that role in hopes they develop and gain confidence.  Personally, X is a cancer and is detrimental to this team.

Woodson doesn't sub in the second half typically like he does the first half.  He usually has the 4 or 5 on the bench in for a 4 to 5 minutes stretch in the first half but in second half he usually doesn't do that.
When I posted that we were in the 1st half so not sure the point you're making here?

Going off of stats prior to tonight Cupps shoots a higher percentage on 2’s, 3’s, and FT’s than Gunn. Gunn shoots slightly more on less minutes, though, so he’s a more willing shooter. Just not a maker.  Leal’s taken 5 shots all year.

There’s not a lot of options to plug into the lineup besides X.

Those Ware blocks look spectacular, but on so many of those shots, he could just as easily catch the ball -- or at least bring it down -- as swat it four rows into the crowd.
Gaining possession is more critical than style points.
TJD did same thing and so did so many others before him. Some could say a giant swat gains more momentum and crowd excitement. I don't particularly agree since I just want more possessions but I get the argument.

X is a headcase and needs to go away!  His body language said it all tonight and it definitely didn’t look like a guy who was sorry for his actions.

A year and day ago, we were 10-6 and 1-4 in the conference after being blown out by PSU. I think being 3rd right now is better than be in last in the conference!

I appreciate the perspective. If IU pulls a similar finish this season Woodson should be coach of the year. My heart says "it could happen!" but my eyes tell me this is a lower half Big ten, NIT team. They are really bad at a lot of things and really good at very few. What remaining road games can they win? Maybe Maryland? Maybe.

Unfortunately, but hopefully the team is able to gut out these next 15 games (1 minimum BTT game) and get something out of it. Enormous week coming up

You were saying that our first half lead started to go down due to Woodson’s subbing.  I pointed out that he didn’t go with his normal 4 or 5 bench players in and —he brought in 2 at 12 minutes — and thst the reason we had so much bench in toward the end of the half was fouls on Reneau and Galloway and I didn’t expect to see mass subbing in the second half because in the past it’s only been in the first half.

@Penn St, @Maryland, @Minny and one surprise road game that teams always seem to win are the road games left IU could win.   Bottom of the bubble is full of teams with major flaws and terrible road records.   Win your home games and steal some on the road and they will be right there for an at- large bid.   Probably in the 10-12 range

Tonight’s win was just a quad 3, right?  Chance it could be a quad 2 by the end of the year but I think it’s more likely it stays a Q3.

I’ve seen a few comparisons to last year’s squad. It’s an interesting comp. I get it, but last year at this point we had wins @ Xavier and vs. UNC and blew out every non power 5 OOC opponent. I have a hard time thinking there is much comparable with this year’s squad. Most importantly, their ability to dance. I’m so very much hope I’m wrong.

Now on to the women's game tomorrow anybody have anything strong.

I was quite surprised to see the women's players at the game tonight figuring that they'd already be in Iowa City.  Seems their flight was rescheduled to tomorrow morning and the game will still be played tomorrow night.  Not ideal.

Yeah they are 86 and need to be 76 to be a Q2.   If Minny wins some big home games very possible they can gain 10 spots.   Just got to hope they stay consistent and don’t start losing a bunch in a row

Last years team despite the 1-4 conference start was still projected in the field because of North Carolina win and arguably at the time the biggest road in college basketball. Add those wins  with smashing teams they should their NET was comfortably in the range of a tourney team.   This years 4-2 start in conference is better then last year but they have 0 signature wins this year and didn’t smash anyone so their NET is well below where it needs to be.   Good news is they have plenty more opportunities to change that but the bad news is they have less wiggle room for error like lasts years team had by winning those early games

We read his body language completely differently tonight.
To me he looked like a guy that realized he really f’d up, was a bit withdrawn and trying to feel/earn his way back in.
