Hopefully Cignetti will be able to keep McCulley.

Taylor Lehman from BSB has a nice analysis, see below, where he points to the OL as a prime re-recruitment opportunity.  Curious where Coach Cig will prioritize in short order.

One of the more, if not the most, impressive offer lists on our roster. Yet he never saw the field. Odd.

Yeah, forgot he was even on the roster honestly. HS film was awesome, offer list was awesome, and apparently it just never clicked. If he couldn’t get on the field over an Andison Coby…yikes.

I think that Abi Nwabuoko-Okonji and Taurus Jones, both of James Madison, should be targets.  Both are in the portal as grad transfers.

Abi Nwabuoko-Okonji is a 6'3", 270 pound defensive end who transferred to James Madison from Minnesota.  Believe he redshirted at Minnesota.  In 2022 at James Madison, he registered 23 tackles and 1.5 sacks.  Had a season ending injury at James Madison this year in their opener.

Taurus Jones is a bit undersized linebacker at 6'1", 214 pounds, but he led James Madison in tackles in 2022 with 81.  Last season he was in and out with injuries.

Could see him bring his QB too… As of now we have Jackson and nothing to compete.

Hey I want a QB that wants to play for his coach and his team not someone chasing the bag.

Sorsby can want to play for Cig too. He’s in the portal because his coach got fired and NIL is a big factor; especially for a kid that could get decapitated every time he suits up.

Sorsby is really good and it would be awesome to have him back.

His JMU qb is fantastic, but if I’m him I’m starting with trying to keep Sorsby.

I love Sorsby, and it’s teachable, but I believe I read that JMU’s offense is read/RPO-heavy and that was not a strong suit for him. Granted, it was Walt calling it so who knows.

I haven't watched enough but what I did watch McCloud wasn't fantastic. He has great mobility and can make tough throws but his arm strength isn't great and accuracy is questionable. He's also a RS Sr this year after having transferred twice. Honestly I think Cignetti's QB's are a product of the system more often than extraordinary talents. And yes I know the kid just won SBC POY. Maybe I just watched his 2 bad games so far. I plan to watch more.

Meh. It would be great if we can keep Sorsby, but at what cost? His NIL market value is now clear, is it worth that for a QB who may or may not fit your system? Sorsby looked good at times but personally wouldn't class him as a first priority/"must keep" player.

I could understand just wanting a clean slate for the rebuild.

Guess I need to watch more because my small sample size says he's not "fantastic".

If Cig is as good as we think, he will adjust his offense to his best players. Didn’t he work with Phillip Rivers?
