Don't think he was considered a one and done player going into the season

I’m not talking about one and done.  His preparedness, work ethic, study habits, etc as an incoming freshman was second to none.  I hope Mgbako is great but he has more of a learning curve compared to JHS.

Again, all respect but you are way off. Mgbako is way more NBA ready now than JHS was and has same work ethic etc. not sure where you are getting your info.

I agree with Kaulie, MM has a larger learning curve then JHS primarily because of the defensive end of basketball.  JHS was already a decent defender coming out of HS and MM looks lost or disinterested in playing D.  There is no questioning his offensive skills but still has a lot to learn on screens and reading the D offensively.  JHS was further along offensively because of his guard play.  MM is also learning the wing position.  His ceiling is much higher than JHS but is unpolished at both ends.

Yikes! Not good that they were close against Ave Maria

I think it was that after the IU game, FGCU was down and Ave Maria came in pumped up to play local big brother.  Some people refer to them as the “swamp Catholics”.  Lol

JHS was not a good defender at all. He couldn’t stay in front of any guard with any quickness. This was a problem for us all year. I would say they are about equal if anything.

Kaulie was also making claims like MM does not prepare, doesn’t have same work ethic etc. huh?

This is not to mention the offensive and turnover issues that plagued JHS at times. Look, he was big for us no doubt. Not trying to dog on him at all. Just saying he had more than his fair share of issues. He worked through a lot as year went on. MM will do the same.

Please don’t try to put words in my mouth.  That’s not cool at all.   I said nothing about how hard Mgbako works.  All I said was, in my opinion, is that Mgbako has a steeper learning curve than JHS.  If MM wants to play on the wing or perimeter he has a lot to work on and learn on the defensive end.  Hopefully, he can get better and play out there or maybe he can’t.  He has played in one game so we will see.
