As Stuart Scott would say….BOOYAH!!

Because friend of the board Point Guard Eyes has a full evaluation! And as always, it is a super-thorough and excellent one:

edit: just read the eval. If it’s accurate there’s a ton to like about this player. A ton.

Back to the adage—it’s not who we miss on that counts, it’s who we get.

This is pretty incredible breakdown. Tipton posting that and Trilly responding the way he did isn’t an ideal situation. That left leaning fade on his jumper , I would think will lead to some inaccuracies.

Providence College has undergraduate enrollment under 5,000, no football, and zero ability to compete in NIL. Ed Cooley was their one selling point and he’s not there anymore.

A local writer in Providence mentioned this possibly being a closer to home situation. No idea if he knows anything. Had a Maryland offer and played travel ball with Team Takeover, which has a couple of kids on the Maryland roster, including DeShawn Harris-Smith.

I guess maybe. But he’s away from home this year and Providence plays all around the Baltimore region.

Haven’t watched a second of the kid, but MaxPreps named Davis area POY last year as a Junior and he was 1st team all Washington Catholic Athletic Conference, which is probably the best High School conference in the country and has a million D1 kids every year. That’s really not nothin’.

Interesting (and a broad brush) that our recent record in head to head recruiting battles has been better against Kansas than Maryland.

No offense to the kid but losing out on a 5 star and having no backup option other than jumping into a mid-low 4 star wasn’t something I was hoping to keep seeing

Yeah, he's ranked 120 on Rivals and around 90 on 247.  The point guard eyes article makes him sound like a top 10 PG.

There's a place for guys like this on a top team, but we need to stack talent like Fland and McNeeley.  We've gotten a bunch of players ranked where Davis is over the last couple decades and we never have the horses we need.

Then you might as well skip the recruiting threads and just fast forward to June every year and judge the results, because this happens to everyone not named Duke. Hell, Cal took Joey Hart, a kid IU didn’t even want, after he de-committed from freaking UCF. Self knew he’d lost McNeeley to IU and had to backstop with Rakease Passmore, who’d never visited before that. Happens all the time.

Also…Khristian Lander says hi …

Rankings are telling and five stars are the likeliest high performers, but player evaluation is the biggest key and attaches to all players.

If that’s the case and our evaluation says this kid is a stud why are we just now hearing about him?

UK has 3 of the top 6 incoming kids that year. Taking a flier on Hart is hardly the same
