Osterman -- Per a source, IU is buying out of next year’s football game at Louisville, meaning this weekend is the only game in the original series that will be played. Hoosiers will add a home game, likely against FCS team, in place of Louisville in ‘24:

A comment posed to Osterman:   So what if you win a football game against an FCS School it doesn't count toward the six ones you need for a bowl game.

Osterman's reply:  FBS schools can count one FCS win per year toward bowl eligibility.

That would leave FIU and Charlotte, both at home, as CTA's only OOC matchups...agree that an FCS opponent makes sense.  I do wonder, with the scheduled being reworked, if a B1G game takes place on 9/7 and the FCS match-up is later in the season?

Read my mind LCS, I wouldn't mind having Charleston Southern (?) come to Bloomington in mid/late November for a 'get right game' prior to wrapping the season with a conference foe or two.

In theory doesn't allow for just losing our the season which has happened plenty in the past. And couple even regroup a team for a rivalry game like Purdue. Alabama and Auburn have done it a lot over the years before going into that game.

With Oregon and Washington entering next year, we still don't know our B1G schedule. Be sure that we'll be sent out to USC and Ohio St in November so they can have a practice before the B1G title game.

So we schedule a nice little series against a regional opponent that appeals to both fanbases but it’s just too much for IU football to handle. IU pays $1 million to buy out and get a FCS win. My very bold prediction is you still aren’t going to a bowl so play Louisville!

Not that you're wrong but next year's B1G schedule is pretty favorable to IUFB.  And I do agree regarding regional schedule etc. etc.. If I'm being completely honest, I wish we would schedule UK and bring back the Bourbon Barrel game.

However, having said all that it absolutely makes sense to do this.

Not so fast my friend! We are hosting UCLA in 2024. PSU is the game that we might end up dropping to add another west coast school. I am basing this on PSU and Rutgers having the type of schedules that makes sense to shuffle around. I could be completely wrong but if my hunch is correct, PSU is a home, so the hope is to host another west coast school. Who knows. We'll see it all play out.
