IUFB vs #3 OSU -- 9/2/2023 at 3:30est on CBS

Recommended Posts

1) Just get this over with

2) Please, no injuries

3) Don’t lose so bad that the team falls into a “here we go again” mentality.

4) Want to see if the OL has improved but OSU might make that difficult to ascertain

With the addition of UW and Oregon the schedule has to be changed and I heard a rumor that next season the Big Ten is now going to open with IU playing at OSU at noon and then have IU fly to LA to play a night game vs USC on that very same date. They looked at forcing us to play a triple header on opening day but decided that wasn’t feasible.

Hahaha.

Seriously, though, I wouldn't be surprised if IU has 4 road games on the west coast and home games against OSU, UM, PSU,  and Wisconsin. Or maybe IU will have 5 road games and one of those last 4 will be on the road.

I fully expect OSU and/or Michigan to be back on our schedule now. That's just how things always seem to work for IU football.

Both of them are already on the 2025 schedule (It's basically the old east division minus PSU plus SC, Iowa, Illini, and that school up north; so arguably worse.). I'd be surprised if we get them both in 2024. We might pick up one but even that might be a stretch due to reasons below.

First and foremost, I don't have a clue how this is all going to sort itself out so please keep that in mind. I'm just trying to follow the numbers here based on the new schedule format. In other words, everything posted below could be completely wrong and not even close to how this is all going to play out.

I wouldn't be surprised if the west coast schools are lumped together as protected opponents. Iowa is the only school that has three protected opponents. (This is a whole different discussion on how in the world they ended up with Minnesota, Nebraska and Wisconsin locked in, but I digress.) If that is indeed the case that means Penn State, Wisconsin, Nebraska and Rutgers will most likely be put back into the shuffle because they were the two-play opponents for SC and UCLA. Penn St. is the only school that does not have a protected opponent, I'm betting that changes. Or it could be the case where Washington and Oregon are protected opponents which leaves the window open for more random two-play opponents scheduling. Rutgers and PSU are two-play opponents so I won't be surprised to see their schedules completely overhauled. PSU in particular.

We will most likely pick up west coast schools on the schedules (home game 2024 replacing PSU and a road game 2025 replacing Rutgers) if I had to guess. Especially if they decide to make all the west coast schools protected opponents. It gets a little fuzzier if they don't. But things will have to be shuffled around regardless.

Now, if they decide to completely redo the schedule formats then I'd start to worry. But if they keep the format then I think we'll just see a couple of changes in the current schedules. Who knows, so many unknowns at this point.

Bottom line, IUFB will always face a tough schedule but hopefully not as tough as it was in the past. It's a mess and I don't envy trying to figure out the scheduling.

Finally, IUFB covers.

All I ask for in this game is to make it interesting for a half. I'm not expecting a win (lol) but it would be nice to just show some fight on the 3:30 CBS game and give us a bit of optimism going into the remaining 11 games.

That being said I drove into Hammond from Chicago yesterday to stock up on the Hoosier Gameday Lager so once I have a few of those I'll probably trick myself into thinking we can win lol

If I wasn't 99.9% certain that he doesn't possess the sense of humor to pull this off, I'd call it a hilarious troll job.

No one gives a damn if it's Freeman or Radicic.

Clearly a sophisticated strategy to prevent Ohio State from being able to prepare for our starting kicker.

So, if I were to bet on this, the 28.5 refers to the margin of victory while the over/under is the number of points scored?

I think I'll bet the over on the points scored, as Indiana doesn't have any issues scoring, especially when Ohio State starts playing reserves.  But it's the margin of victory that gets me.

Coach Tom Allen has revealed that there will be more Ohio State fans than Indiana fans at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington for this game, but he won't reveal how many more until kickoff.

This has become a LOL situation with Allen and the Roster.  The beat writers are annoyed by it.   I don't much care, but I find the humor in all of it.  Like we have secret weapons hidden within the roster.

Annoying the already-annoying beat writers is a major win here. Good call.

IU leaves it’s secret weapon on the table in loss to Michigan State! “Unleash the Monster”

September 23, 2018

IU was held to only 29 yards rushing in a ball game that they had an opportunity to win had they been able to run the football. However, you’ve got the most electrifying player to sign with the Hoosiers since Antwaan Randle El on the side lines in 2017 Indiana Mr. Football, Reese Taylor.

At this point, his secret weapon might as well be an enchanted jock strap.
