The name is self-deprecating. It is clearly intended as a joke and its hard to believe anyone would describe it as offensive now after my  using it for several years.  But if some do, I have no problems changing it

No need.

This board is intentionally diligent in preventing and deleting posts that are offensive, have personal name calling, or divert into political or non-sports controversial topics. The proof has been in the posting, and the classy and extraordinary gracious (especially for a message board) nature of the excellent people who visit.

If your name or any posts veer into impropriety, the mods will gently let you know away from the open board. Until then, it is safe to assume all is well.

That's why it seems so strange that you would take offense at a post equating Izzo, Cal, and Pitino to the movie Goodfellas.  Seems you would want to give everyone else the same benefit of doubt you wish to have.

Rob Cassidy of Rivals futurecast him to St. John's earlier this afternoon FWIW.

Read in the Rob Cassidy replies that Wilcher would be St. John's 14th scholarship player, so something has to give.  Only one player is a returning scholarship guy -- Joel Soriano -- the other current spots are taken up by two freshman that committed since Pitino was hired and the other ten are transfers.  It's quite a strange group -- mostly high floor, low ceiling group of players.  I'm sure that Pitino will have a lot of players in his rotation, but Wilcher committing seems like a strage choice for Wilcher.

The replies indicate the possibility of an issue with Daniss Jenkins' transfer.  Jenkins played two years at Pacific then played at the Junior College level for a year before joining Pitino at Iona.  Good player, averaged 15+ points and 4+ assists and rebounds last year.  He apparantly is taking classes at Iona to try to earn his degree.  He would need a waiver otherwise since this would be his second transfer.  Am wondering if St. John's thinks/knows he isn't going to be eligible and therefore had the spot for Wilcher.
