That looks like a misprint. Amazing. Also just read that Russell, Frank Robinson and Curt Flood were all at the same high school at the same time.

I'm sure I'll get roasted for this, but if you're going to call out his wife then take the time to get it right. He's two full letters off with the spelling.

The dude in 67-68 was coaching and playing 38 mpg in 77 games and in 68-69 was coaching and playing 43 mpg in 76 games and won 2 titles. Also did it in 66-67 but they lost in the playoffs.

Him being player coach is one of the more underrated and under-discussed feats in basketball. It’s like some of those Wilt stats where we just kind of skip over it because there’s not much to compare it to since no one has done anything comparable since.

That is insanity.  How to get over losing a winner take all game was probably the only basketball topic he wasn’t an expert on.

Must be easier to cope when you get beat in 6 according to Bob Ryan. Kind of a weird stat, tbh. It makes me think of the opposite for Jordan where the Bulls hardly ever were taken to game 7s.

I’m not sure if Ryan is trying to say Russell is the most clutch ever or what. He’s certainly the greatest champion in the sport of basketball.
