Saw this bumped and was terrified he was transferring

Me too. I was thinking, "Oh s**t. No way. Noooooo!" The relief was real when I saw it was for his birthday.

Man I really hate these comparison pictures with the different lighting, flexing vs not, etc. It's insulting to the fans' intelligence.

That said, the vert and upper body gains are impressive if true and not sandbagged like the pictures.

I agree about the the hyped up photos but even with the tricks and flexing there's definitely muscle gain.

I totally agree about the pictures. I do appreciate that this one actually included measurables unlike most of the before/after photos.

They can do the pictures, it's fine. People know what's up. The real PR is that the strength program makes a difference and cares as much to prove it. If I was doing before and after pictures you bet your sweet butts I'm asking for the lighting, etc. Why do bodybuilders literally paint on their tan and stand under every light over the stage? Athletes see that and imagine their own pictures. If they happen to associate that with Marshall and IU? Task accomplished.

I don't like the mix-up of pictures to illustrate gains as much as anyone else here, but it's useful for recruiting. I do believe that the updated strength tests that came out a few weeks ago prove that there is substance behind the pictures. It shows the MR's body fat % is down 3.5%, does anyone here care to guess what the true bf % is? My opinion is under 5.7% based on the picture.

I don't really see the big deal with the pictures at all. They aren't asking anyone to gawk at MR, they are simply showing the improvement. But again, the pictures are irrevelant...

4.5 inches on your vert

14 bench reps... all in a year is a stupid improvement.

I would guess quite a bit above that. By quite a bit, 8% even, would be "quite a bit".

I guess it works for some people?

The dishonest picture comparison casts on doubt on the honesty of the measurables, imo. If all of those are true he better not get bullied in the post at all this year.

There isn't any dishonesty, but now Malik will be in condition to play 25-28 mins a night... he didn't have that ability last season, even if he had "earned" that, it wasn't in his capability, imo. I guess I don't remember him ever getting "bullied", scored on sure.. but not really just mowed over.

On the bolded, I would be absolutely floored if it was that low.  A bodybuilder competing for the Olympia might be higher than that while on stage, and they're typically under 10% on stage.

EDIT: To add, Ronnie Coleman, an 8x Olympia winner, once claimed 3% and that would be extraordinary.

I'm not even remotely close to a professional S&C, nutritionist, eg. Was just a guess. Are you saying you believe he is 8%?

I believe what you're saying. While I was in the Army I was around 11-12.5% and really thought I could've been leaner. Oh well, either way MR looks much more fit. How much of the early semester focuses on S&C once practice starts? Enough for marginal gains? Anyone with S&C insights at IU, please feel free to share - very interested in learning.
