(2022) PF Malik Reneau to INDIANA

Recommended Posts

Brandon Jenkins' 247 scouting report on him is........tasty:

Reneau is a southpaw four man with a solid build, great hands, and an equally impressive feel for the game. He is a team-oriented player who compliments those around him with his activity on the glass, inside scoring, and passing from the high to low posts. He is a decent vertical athlete who can make the occasional wow play but for the most part Reneau is all business and fundementals on the hardwood. With his great basketball IQ and ability to do whatever is needed for his team, Reneau tracks well as a high major all-purpose asset.

Seems like we love those left-handed big guys who pretty much just play inside. Hopefully he doesn't follow his coach to Georgia

Inside scoring....not a shooter?  I'm so jaded right now.  I need every player on the floor to be able to hit a 10 footer

I can pro/con UGA vs. IU for him:

UGA pro — plenty of PT, coach he previously committed to, close to home

con — bad facilities, probably lots of losing, the NIL $ goes to football players, poor fan support

IU pro — play with your HS PG, probably plenty of PT, play for a coach w/NBA HC experience, NIL $ to be had for hoopers, rabidly supportive fanbase, tons of exposure

con — farther from home

Here's a summary of his current season.  Scoring and rebounding are for 17 games,  other stats for 14 games and he played far more than 17 games but those are the only games for which individual stats were posted.

11.9 pts on 58% FG; 43% on 3s; 50% FT; 6 reb; 1 asst; 1 stl; 1 blk; 2 TO.  He only attempted 7-3s and 20 FT.

Maybe this one will develop a jumper in the offseason. :)))))

Well, my concern is alleviated.  Get him.

The ball comes off the outside of his hand so he gets some sidespin. Needs work.

Yea, can’t see anything, but apparently he is doing cryptic stuff

he wouldn't fall out of his chair if it were possible that the winds might be blowing north :)

Watched 2 games of Montverde last year, IMG in January and Sunrise in the Geico final. Like Hood-Schifino, Reneau barely played. The level of talent there is just on another level now. They don’t recruit kids anymore. They issue invitations.

I believe they have 8 kids there currently that have already committed to D1 schools.

Apparently Rabby is hyping this up

He's just saying that we have a better chance than a lot of schools because of the work we already put in, also having JHS talk to him, and we've already made contact with him. We're in his top 4 or 5 for sure

43% from 3 would be nice.  50% at the line fits the rest of the team.
