I agree with your take on the Dykes connection but don’t think our OC hire had anything to do with it.  He is a Texas kid putting up huge numbers at a big Texas HS and had a previous offer from Dykes at SMU but SMU is a level of play below what he was looking for.  I assume Dykes called him shortly after getting the TCU gig and the wheels starting turning right away (before we hired the OC).  His high school is only a hour from TCU. The fact that be blew it up this year, and we sucked, probably didn’t help either.

In the portal. Something to keep an eye on.

I think we will have our pick this next year based on what the staff has done the past two years.  What a difference a couple of years make with this new staff.

This is not a hot take. Hoover is the best QB transferring into IUFB compared to the two previous NFL drafted QBs. I'm not saying that translates into a Heisman like season but today, during the spring, he's better than both of them were during the spring. He's also perfect for this offense.

I have a feeling we're in for a treat folks.

I don't see how you can say the bold. One was 6'5 240lbs and fast af.

I do think he's got a lot going for him, especially in terms of fit in the offense, but Mendoza had that, as well.

Hoover has the best pre-IU resume? 100% without a doubt. And for Cig to pass on Alberto for a specific interest in Hoover says a lot to me.

Fernando Mendoza had the best measureables/ceiling for the NFL coming into his IU year.

They're worlds from each other athletically.

Best resume, ok.

3 straight really freaking good QBs. And really 4 straight, if you include FanDuel Express Sorsby

Mendoza had the measurables to be the most coveted prospect but Hoover can easily be our best QB.

He can be a better passer than Mendoza.

Will he be able to beat teams with his legs not really.  But Hoovers offense will look more like Rourkes.

Hoover has a chance to be the best Big Ten QB.

Moore really wasn’t that good last year I will die on that hill if you dig into it. 12/6 stat line in 9 Big Ten Games in regulation.

Sayin is going to be asked to do a lot more with likely less weapons or at best similar.  He’s going to have to take it to another level.

Hoover is going to have the best defense in the conference.  Maybe the country and a great running game.

im really excited.  Hoping Cig flexes the ole muscles for the first home big ten game

I'm hoping he flexes for the first B1G road game, because I'm gonna be at Rutgers (and in Btown for the OSU game!).

Cig remembers them running up the score.  Hes gonna try and Alabama them if he gets the chance

It's not crazy to say, compared to both QBs prior to Hoover, at the exact same time, he's stepping into 812 better than both of them.  Last year he ranked 2nd nationally in RPO behind... IUFB's QB. TCU's offense is almost near identical to IUFB's. He's got a quick release.  He's TCU's best QB they've ever had in their entire history. We're going to see intermediate and deep balls like no other. Yes, even more than both Rourke and Mendoza.

Stats two years prior to IUFB
Rourke: 5464 Passing Yards, 36 TDs
Mendoza: 4712 Passing Yards, 30 TDs
Hoover: 7421 Passing Yards, 56 TDs

Hoover is just 10 passes shy of beating both Rourke and Mendoza combined!

Again, all of these comments are based on preseason

Does this translate to a better QB than the last two years? No. Hoover has a lot of flaws that needs to be cleaned up. But man, hands down he's statistically the best and most experienced RPO QB the staff has ever had to work with during preseason. Exciting times for 812FB.
