We could do a lot worse.  I'd honestly be fine with him if Beard and Drew are uninterested.  It won't happen though.  IU won't go mid major again.

I would disagree with this.  
 

Hindsight being 20/20, Crean’s record was skewed by Wade.  Without Wade, we got typical Crean performance.  AM was known for D and we got better at D, but assumed his O suffered from lack of players.  This was not true.  
 

I think the key is to not assume that “better players” makes up for short comings of the prospective coach.  The competition in the BIG is better and better players just allow the coach to get the SAME results.  
 

Based on 60 mins I have watch, I like Porters results.  Question is can he recruit the better players needed to translate this to BIG?

Yeah to me Archie's biggest issue was scheme and being married to his scheme with no room for adjusting to his roster

This tourney and the final four run look good but can anyone tell me why his record MVC record was under .500 until this year?

Bob Knight or Coach K aren’t walking through the door. But anyway, I’m not saying a mid-major can’t work out this time. I simply have no interest in IU finding out if it can.

Sure can!

He inherited a horrible Illinois State team and had a 4-14 conference record his first year.

He inherited a horrible Loyola team and went 1-17 in conference his first year.

I know one thing, Porter Moser would get IU to play hard for 40 minutes. Most enjoyable game I've seen all year, they are so well coached.

I would be optimistic if iu hired this guy as this game so far is the most brilliant game I have seen in a while. I would be skeptical he could bring it to iu. If he did and could recruit we would be great

Porter’s efficiency numbers don’t impress me. Even his final four year their offense was 63 on kenpom. I just worry it’d be another Archie that’s all defense and below average offense.

Moser is in his 50’s so not an up and comer from a mid major.  He was a long time assistant to Rick Majerus and paid his dues.    He might not be IU’s guy but he is definitely getting a Power 5 job soon

Does Moser have the personality for IU? I have thought that Beard suits IU really well in that department and think we need more than a ‘coach’ this time around, but someone like Tom Allen who ascends that role.
