That’s what I think, I don’t care if you tell me to give up, all options are still open until Dolson has picked up his mic in the future press conference

I’m in that same boat... really I am. I’m thinking that very same way. However I feel like I’ve lost one of my oars and the tide’s taking me in another direction. I can’t help but think Dolson will pull the mic up and say it’s Brad....just don’t shame me for hoping ..... the longer it is, the better it may be for us....I hope.

I gave up after Stevens news. :(

We found Tom Crean through tracking planes. I suppose I’ll take a look again..

At least it was fun while it lasted, can we go back to Monday to Thursday :(. Unless, Dolson makes the final push, which is a possibility, but idk.

It’s hard for me to get excited about a guy who hasn’t coached or recruited in 4 years. Are we getting the elite Matta or the average Matta who OSU got rid of

No way to really know until we hire him, imho. The back is a big risk, but I’m ok taking it. Most of the candidates out there come with some risk. A healthy Matta delivered incredible results at Ohio State and recruited Indiana very well. We know that he is capable of being an elite coach in our conference. The only question is if he can handle it physically.

That elite Matta was in 2008.

Its 2021. Basketball has changed.

Thad Matta has coached in a final four game more recently than Brad Stevens has...

Matta had a four year span after 2008 where he never won fewer than 29 games and never lost before the sweet 16. He also won the regular season conference championship and the conference tournament three times each during that span. Big Ten basketball hasn’t changed that much since 2013.

I think still some of us want to give Stevens the benefit of the doubt and to want to trust his former 'image' a bit too much. If he didn't want this job from the beginning, all he needed to say on Tuesday was "No I don't want the Indiana job. I'm not going to Indiana. Period." But he didn't for whatever reason, he dodged and gave a vague answer. Then came out on Friday basically saying "Didn't I tell you I don't want Indiana? Yeah I'm from Indiana, so I got some good memories from childhood , but I'm not a kid any more. I'm a grown man who loves Boston and Massachusetts. So piss off." It can't get any clearer than that.
What I'm pissed off about is as a result (even if Stevens didn't mean it) IU and its fans became a pathetic bunch and a laughing stock. And for that, I don't think I'm going to root for this guy any more.

Us fans haven’t helped ourselves.

Actually it was 2006 for the runner up.
2011 for the final four.

Long long long time ago. I was in middle school and high school Jesus Christ LOL

The answer was only vague because fans wanted to believe that it was vague. That same day of his ‘vague’ answer he went on a Boston radio show and said no, he wasn’t leaving for the IU job. We dismissed it as just a radio show answer.

Matta made the final four in 2012 and the elite eight in 2013. Billy Donovan last made a final four in 2014. Brad Stevens last made a final four in 2011. Eight years really isn’t that long ago. Basketball has changed, but Big Ten basketball is still a big wrestling match. I don’t think there should be any concern about the game passing Matta by.

I would prefer we talk to a younger Beard with no health problems, about the same winning percentage before giving Matta the keys.

I’m totally cool with that. I’d talk to Beard before talking to Matta too. But if we miss on Beard, Matta is a great consolation prize, imo.

$10 million dollars gets us Thad Matta?

Hes 4-7 on most peoples list. Jeez. I wish I had that much money to spend on C list names.

Exactly.....We’ve got an impressive amount of money earmarked for a “premiere” level coach and, as it appears now.... we don’t have a “premiere” level coach in site to match that money.....Am I missing anything here???

Matta would certainly be a better option than Woodson. If the purpose of the Woodson rumor was to make Matta more palatable then it worked.
