Probably have to listen to them on the radio broadcast.  Actual footage might be posted after the fact but that's a guess on my part.

I thought there were a few livestreams last years from some of the IU basketball blogs... I'm sure more info will get out soon...

Smart move here—the only thing potentially worse than the Beard discourse would be Israel-Palestine discourse, lol.

Well, we have someone wanting to start a Bob Knight fight so get ready for that to rollout over the next few hours.....

Would really start discussing Eric Olen seriously.

Wait! Did your friend who knows Turgeon ask Turgeon who Turgeon heard was going to get the job instead of him? And the search firm told him?!

great insight from our “friend of Turgeon and that’s the only reason I know anything”

That's a great discussion!

If we're thinking of rolling the dice him and McCollum are equals.

I'll get behind either one and hope we hit the lotto winner. With guys like that the coaching industry reputation and the interviews of the candidate would be super-critical. Clearly they are both on the rise.

Chris Beard is nothing more than an "In Case of Emergency Break Glass" candidate.

That emergency would mean being rejected by at least 5-7 candidates, IU knowingly upsetting some big money donors, and facing immediate PR issues and a potential future PR nightmare.

In short...not happening.

I know, it’s shocking to some of you. But that’s not the case though…he’s not some emergency. He’s a viable candidate.

I'm an Ole Miss baseball fan and follow their boards and program closely. In Chris Beard's time in Oxford, he has not had a single alcohol event that has been reported. Oxford is an easy place to find alcohol, so it's not like he wouldn't have the opportunity.

Their fanbase's biggest concern is that he hasn't bought a house in town yet.

Welcome! Great win against Tenn the other night.

Professors here in town want Whitten gone, if she ok's the hire of Beard, that is all they need to push her out the door.

Have been following this from afar; have I understood right that it seems like she had a hand in holding off on Fitzgerald and going ahead with the Cignetti hire?

After all IU's success last year in football, I'm sure the anti-Whitten contingent is grinding their teeth.

Good post. Of course, if we get Stevens that is awesome. But it comes down to the fork in the road. If it’s between Beard and a McCollum and we choose McCollum…well you get the point. It’s this line of thinking and decision making which reflects why we’ve sucked for so long. Many of these same people probably didn’t want Pitino or Pearl or didn’t like Sampson…yet there’s a common denominator with all 3 coaches…they have National Title Contending Programs seemingly every single .year. Beard has a far more likelihood of succeeding here than a lot of names being thrown out….but sure, let’s hand over the reigns a guy that has coached 2 quad 1 games in his life, has all his players leaving after this year and pray to God he turns into Bo Ryan and not a Todd licklighter, or Archie Miller or the countless of other “up and coming coaches.” Give me a break.
And when we are doing this again in four years iu would have nobody buts itself to blame. Hiring a guy with one year of division one experience would be plain stupid and a massive risk.

Any chance we can open a Beard DV chat and move this convo elsewhere? Just asking....

Agreed. The Turgeon stuff got moved to a different thread, but the Beard stuff is way more distracting, contentious, and repetitive.

So I knew this but holy crap how great was Donovan and why does he not get more talk as the GOAT of college ball coaches?

No.  Ole Miss was the perfect landing spot for him with his past.   He was always going to get another job but most felt it would be at the lower level at first and then a high major program with 0 basketball history most likely in the SEC because historically that conference has looked  past coaches with a questionable background.   Ole Miss had nothing to lose and was probably their only chance to land a coach with his success.   The question with him was always going to be will a school with basketball history take a risk on him.   No question he wants back at a program where he can win big.  Time will tell if any program takes on the risk
Somebody will take the risk. They took the risks on pitino and sampson and they both now have top ten teams
