Yeah family’s lives in Indiana is a big part. Guess you could also say one in the hand is better than two in the bush. Already got it rolling at Michigan. It’s a risk to leave for IU when you factor in the family aspect. Payoff could be great, legendary. Not sure if that’s enough. Hope so. Would be very pleasantly surprised

Not to sound salty but if that's his thoughts he probably doesn't belong here.  That's essentially a losers mentality.

Background checks, PR strategy, behind the scenes logistics, etc. “Search firm” isn’t a very good title for what they actually do.

Makes sense. Thanks.

Lol, just different ways of looking at it I guess. He’s already winning at Michigan. What makes IU so great when they didn’t want him last cycle? If anything I’d get him wanting to stick it to IU, even if he loved his time there and has fond memories/family connections. Dolson passed on him (whether that’s because of Quinn/others doesn’t really matter). The scrutiny that the IUBB HC gets, with his family in the area, is a valid concern when you’re already winning at a prestigious Big 10 school that’s about to pay him well. Is IU in 2025 so special that’s worth walking away from to restore glory? Would be cool if he thinks that way. Not sure he’ll weigh out the decision that way taking everything into consideration. IU really F’d up not getting him last offseason IMO.

Maybe I am the only one on this hill but Nate Oats is not as high on my list as probably others. His teams are pretty shotty on the defensive end more often than not.

Anyone know why they are just now announcing Indiana is hiring a search firm? I thought that was known a while ago?

This was from a 2/17 Indy Star article saying Dolson’s using the same approach as the football search, including hiring the same search firm to identify candidates, based on his team’s criteria.

“The athletic department also hired prominent search firm TurnkeyZRG to assist them. Dolson has gone on record describing them as “invaluable” to the process in the past. At that Rotary Club meeting, he said the firm worked off criteria he provided them, criteria which came directly from that study, to identify candidates.”

If he is offered and he accepts, it will be one of the greatest sports stories in the country! If he is successful they will make a movie about it!

Did you question why IU didn't hire him when he was 47-41 his first 3 years at FAU and that he might actually be upset about not getting the IU job then?  And you think with that mentality he's worried about failing here?  Seems like two different peoples brains Dusty May has. I don't want a split personality coach.
