We have won so many off-seasons... we don't need to move the needle, win the press conference, energize the fanbase... we need to hire a coach that wins and has manageable skeletons in their closet. If Cronin had the RMK connection Beard does, some Indiana fans would crawl through glass to hire him. Their resumes are basically equal.

Their NIL is non existent. Cronin himself had to go out a raise money for NIL.   That’s a bad spot to be in as a head coach when you have to basically be the NIL coordinator for your program

He's been to a F4 and won 31 games as a 2 seed after losing his entire roster.

It's not terrible currently. That's been reported, check their transfer class from last year as proof. "he's doing fine there" doesn't equate to me being interested in him being our coach, at all.

I'm going to pass on any coach that whines about travel schedule and openly talks crap about his players. Plus the 16+ million dollar buyout would not be worth it

He's publicly called out the NIL situation at UCLA. He did fundraising himself which is absolutely wild at a school like UCLA. 

His floor at IU is a 6 or 7 seed every season. I'm not sure how a single IU fan can turn that down?

Cronin is 15-14 in the tourney, Beard is 14-6 and would be something like 17-7 or better had he not gotten fired. Strictly talking ball.... I don't have Cronin all that close to Beard. 

Beard wins at Texas, TTU, and Ole Miss..... Cronin is marginally passing expectations at UCLA. 

With that... I am out on Beard and Cronin discussions.

11. Mick Cronin, UCLA

Cronin enjoyed excellent roster continuity during his first four years at UCLA as he improved the Bruins' win total each season, culminating with a dominant run to the Pac-12 regular season title last season. Now comes a retooling season that will put his freshman-oriented roster strategy to the test. But given his excellent 21-year track record across Murray State, Cincinnati and UCLA, there is little doubt Cronin will make it work. His teams have qualified for 12 straight NCAA Tournaments. (9)
16. Mick Cronin, UCLA
Speaking about not being used to losing seasons, Mick Cronin is in the same boat as Miller. Cronin had a few of them at Cincinnati, but last year was his first since 2007-08. It’s been a long time. I’d also argue that Cronin’s done a very respectable job as the head coach of the Bruins. It’s a position that comes with a lot of pressure and scrutiny, but he’s handled it well and been a very good tournament coach with the Bruins.
 

We are going to end up with someone like Cronin or buzz Williams imo.

Motivational tactic, RMK did the same thing plenty. They're 8-1 since he called his team soft and on a 7 game winning streak.

OK I agree. Some people keep saying MAY in the same sentence of bigname/homerun and I just do not agree. I do agree that Few, pearl, beard, drew are the big name hires.

From what I have gathered:

1. Few: have not heard anything on him- not sure why he would leave gonzaga

2. Pearl: he wanted the IU job last year, that ship has sailed- per his former player we happen to meet in Atlanta last year- if Auburn makes a run this year- he is retiring.

3. Beard: IU is not even entertaining him- I do not agree with this at all- typical IU BS. Trying to take the high road, it is time to win.

4. Drew: I posted yesterday that I was going to text someone in his wedding party who we are friends with: still waiting to hear back but our friend told us the wife is the key to the decision and she wanted no part of Kentucky. She doesn't like the limelight and is pretty involved with their church with that chip and joanna gains. If the wife is in we are good, she is the decision maker. but this seems like along shot.

Which brings me back to Stevens and MAY.
