I can't see this Crown tournament actually taking place. Players, coaches and fans want to wait another 3 weeks to watch, play or coach a team that they probably couldn't wait to be done with? I'm sure the ratings will be stellar. Starting at center for Indiana is 6' 5" Jordan Rayford. And at PG is some guy named Craig that IU found at the upstairs pub last night.

I know Craig. That dude can ball!

I'm not telling anyone how to feel about Brad Brownell. Minds are already made up on this forum and that is totally fine. I don't expect anyone to remember but I've mentioned before that I live near Clemson and follow the program pretty closely. I don't know Brad Brownell personally but I do know people at my church that work for Clemson and have a personal relationship with him. To a person, people really like Brownell. He has grown a lot as an offensive coach and has adjusted the way his teams play in the past two years. He has a whole lot of connections in the state of Indiana and I believe he'd hire a staff that would help recruit in the state very successfully. If he's the choice, I wouldn't blame anyone for being underwhelmed but I hope he'd get a chance. Anyway, this podcast conversation was before this season began and he explains why he cares about basketball and how much he loves coaching...he's a true college basketball and coaching grinder and lifer:

Rising Coaches Podcast Ep 81 - Brad Brownell

Yeah I wouldn't be exactly excited, but we have done worse and can do worse. I can see a Mark Pope type transition with him.

Anybody is going to get a bit of a chance but he is a guy that would start with one foot already in the grave.  Huge risk, low reward.

@Chris007 you mentioned Shaka secretly interviewed… anyone else that you heard that might have met besides BS. Or met recently. We need a pick me up right now after that 4 year tenure of Woody…

Not that I have heard. Shaka was a surprise.

This hire better be brad cause I fear almost anyone else we hire will be bad. I am officially doom and gloom until I see a reason not to be. We need a splash hire for instant juice. A reason to pack the hall for hoosier hysteria. Not some mid major hot shot imo

I’d like for it to be Brad also but if not, I just hope we get a good coach. I would find excitement to see a guy like McCollum step up to the big leagues and succeed and create his own culture and make IU his masterpiece.
