NCAA MBB Transfer Portal

I'd have to think we hear something soon. I'm sure Woodson wants to hit the transfer portal after he has an idea of his roster. Just reading the tea leaves from other people, my guess is a combo guard who can shoot it and a stretch 4 is going to be the number 1 priority. Not that Hunter can't start, but I think that is a hole on the roster.

Jerome Hunters ceiling is extremely high imo. I think Woodson could turn him into a star. He's the ideal NBA style player Woodson is wanting.

We can be a tournament team starting next year if Trayce comes back. Dude averaged 20/9 with a lot of holes in his game.

Obviously I am still in a wait and see, but if the core comes back (including TJD) we will be alright. The BIG should not be nearly as tough next year at the top with a lot of the top players leaving. Let's hope IU finally catches some breaks!

I could see a lot of NBA type offensive sets ran for jerome to get a catch and shoot 3. He could be a lights out guy with confidence and support from the staff to shoot it. Always felt like guys were afraid to shoot 3's in Archie's system.

Yes, many top players will be leaving but with open season in recruiting, equally talented players could transfer in so who knows how tough the league will be next year.

There were times last year when Armaan was our best player. After some of those games he had some NBA buzz. I want him back. I’d love to see him and TJD star together, under a new coach with some excitement around the program again.

I’m still a believer in Jerome Hunter. Of course there’s no indication that he’s leaving so no issue there.

Khristian didn’t have a great year, but he’s the kind of asset you leave in your portfolio. The entire team needed a sports psychologist to get them past the Archie Yips. Hoping CMW can cure that.

We don’t know what we have in Parker Stewart. I forget he’s there sometimes, but the truth is that he was a very good player before. Parker, Armaan, and Jerome out there together?? Let it flyyyyy!

agreed. But I will still be very surprised if the league is as good as it was this year. I don't see Iowa upgrading, Wisconsin upgrading, Illinois upgrading, or Michigan upgrading.

I think this could be the starting lineup. Lander, Franklin (if he returns), Stewart, Hunter, TJD. I'm really curious to see how deep Woodson's bench is. The trend seems to be a 7-8 guy rotation.

One thing I have always wanted to see was more of a unit type of substitutions, more in line with what NBA teams do. Obviously roster construction will have something to say about that but having a group or groups of guys that are used to playing with one another has seemed like a good idea to me. I watch mainly Pacers games so using them as a reference here, but TJ McConnel does a great job running the second unit. He understands the guys he plays with and they all have a feel for one another. It doesn't have to be identical to how NBA teams do it but something along those lines has always interested me.

I really hope he can keep the guys who don't play as much involved. One thing I wish they would use is the redshirt year.

I know we aren't supposed to like anything Purdue related, however, Painter's ability to redshirt guys that leads to development at the end of their career is something I have been jealous of.

Right there with you. Was a long time where I was frustrated by how CAM was under-utilizing him in his overall limiting of the outside game / arc. Hunter has a strong offensive game, a sweet baby hook inside to go along with good range on a pretty good percentage outside shot, his 34% on the year is misleading imo, fully capable of shooting 38-40% (like how he finished over the last 10 or so games of his frosh season) within sets that spread the floor. I'd bet on him having a much more productive season as a junior under Woodson. His D has been gradually improving, will need to continue but expect it will, kind of like how Watford grew his D as a junior.

Sooner or later, it's gonna happen. A kid will go from PU to IU, or vice versa. Man, that'll be something ...

Granted it’s football, but freaking Coy Cronk did this. Should be highly illegal

Yes. It works. Having 11 scholarship players meant IU couldn't do that. Not sure it would have mattered this year since everyone gets an extra year but ideally someone like Leal would've benefitted from it.
