Yale forward Danny Wolf has entered the transfer portal, per @JamieShaw5. The 7-0 sophomore averaged 14.1PTS & 9.7 REB this season.

The 7’0” forward appeared in 32 games for the Ivy League tournament champs, averaging 14.1 points, 9.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.3 blocks, and 1.0 steal. Wolf shot 47% from the field, and 35% from 3 (29/84).

I'd take him. Wolf would be a really good rotational guy as a backup 5. Just guessing, I think he might end up at Northwestern.

Idk.  I think he’ll be a Hoosier.  The 5 position is odd this cycle.  I really don’t know what our plan is as starter vs.  backup.  NGW pegged Wolf 2 weeks ago.

Danny Wolfe has a "do not contact" symbol next to his name in the portal, per source. In other words, he probably has a good idea as to where he's heading.

Bumping for those that may have missed it.  Haven't seen anything to hint at where he's headed.

Would seem strange that IU would contact Payne on the same day that Wolf entered and put a do not contact on his recruitment if Wolf were set to come to Indiana.  He is from Illinois, so could be that's where he ends up.  Lot of talent leaving Illinois this season.

Backup? Thats a starter lmao

I can't keep it straight.  Half the board says that Reneau will start at center and half the board says we'll bring in a starting center and Reneau remains at the 4.  Wolf could start if we choose to play two bigs again.

My guess is you'll see Reneau starting at the 4 and someone else at the 5 with Reneau sliding to the 5 when the starter is one the bench.  So half of the time Reneau and and a 5 on the court in essence, half the time just one of the two.

Will be curious to see how this one goes. You are right that he has been hinting at him for a while. Does that mean we have him secured or we will just get a meeting.

I think if he has a do not contact restriction, he already knows where he is going.

I'm wary of Ivy transfers. Ivy teams seem to always get an upset in the tourney, but it seems like their best guys don't translate too well to major conferences.

Some do, some don't.  Chris Ledlum and Jordan Dingle didn't live up their billing  Ryan Langborg was better at Northwestern than he ever was at Princeton.

Would expect something like this too, especially given Chris saying MM’s sees himself as a 3 and MR sees himself as a 4. One workaround is you start a more traditional 5 with those two but after the initial lineup, mostly keep the starting 4 and 5 separate, splitting the minutes at the 5. (This is pretty common!)

As an aside, I always find it pretty weird when players — both of whom in this case are pretty clearly hybrid/tweeners of the two positions in question — are insistent they are/aren’t one position or another. @Demo said something to this effect earlier but that always strikes me as a sort of naive way to view the game.

In my pickup games I’m anywhere from a 1 to a 4 depending on my teammates, and while I don’t like to guard bigger bruisers, it doesn’t really make much difference to me any which position I play.

Maybe naive isn’t the right word, as you sometimes hear this about the best players on earth, but it’s really focusing on the wrong things in ways I don’t get.

Just my opinion.....but Reneau is a 5 offensively and a 4 defensively, MM is a stretch 4 on offense and a 3 or 4 on defense.  I honestly do think that MM's best position in the NBA will be as a 4.

According to Trilly, he’s hearing ifs Duke, Georgetown or a return to Yale at this moment.
