My support for Archie had been hanging by a rope, then it became twine, then it became fishing line, then it became a thread, then it became a hair.  Last night it broke.  Still uncertain if it happens at the end of this season or not, but he's toast.

He's not being fired this season. He'll be gone next April unless he can save the program next year.

TJD - good player, but not great.

Let me start by saying that I am glad we have him.  I couldn't imagine this season without.  A couple of observations hit me on the way in to work this morning; It didn't take much to alter his game when he went up against the man beast.  That is every night in the NBA and worse.  Catching up on Podcast on the Brink, Bottoms made a good point referring to TJD.  He does things really well in college that isn't valued in the NBA.  I think it is awesome that he is being recognized for certain accolades in college but if your game doesn't translate into the NBA, it could be a short, quick road.  I think this fits TJD's outlook right now.

In summary, I hope that being on the Malone Top 20 watchlist doesn't cloud his judgment about leaving too early.  I think he could benefit from one more year and become a dominate player in the B1G.

TJD, Race, Duncomb, Geronimo, and Brunk (if) could be a tough front court next season.

TJD has no hope for the NBA or G-League, yet. Garza is a better NBA prospect in comparison and Garza is sniffing the second round AT BEST.

TJD can't shoot outside 2 feet. He air-balled a jumper in crucial minutes, a jumper he probably makes in practice but has yet to consistently transition to a real basketball game.

TJD can't defend guards. We have to hard hedge with TJD instead, which even that he's a little lack luster on his recovery back to the roll man.

TJD doesn't have a right hand. Neither does Julius Randle from the Knicks, but Randle can "defend" 1-5, handle the basketball and shoot from 3 now.

TJD can't shoot from outside two feet, he can't defend guards, he can only finish with his left hand. That's not an NBA player right now. He has the tools to be an NBA player but he hasn't shown anything that an NBA GM would consider for a second round draft pick. NBA is about versatility and TJD is quite the opposite of that.

He doesn't have Coaches who seem to care either to develop him either.

I logged in to see what some of your reactions were to the Illinois vs Indiana game. Three pages in and all I found was a long-winded argument about Alford (and a couple posts about the game). I didn’t feel like reading through anymore pages to find anything relative to the game.

Good luck with the argument, folks. Most people rarely change their minds, and some never do.

Another demoralizing loss, and to make it worse, my recorded game cut off so I missed the last 3 minutes as well as the overtime. It appears from the game breakdowns I read, there wasn’t much to see in the overtime anyways.

A lot of freshman minutes, a lot of weak shots put up by TJD, too many second half turnovers, too many fouls on both sides, and too many missed free throws. The positive was the effort Race put in, even after the game as he shot free throws (an area he MUST get better at). He’s my MVP for this one and it’s not even close.

Stop blaming the coaches for everything. TJD's effort is pretty bad at times. Coaches are not responsible for effort nor can you teach effort.

The freshman are developing quite nicely. Give credit to the coach staff for that and in fact -- give them credit for being the best class under Archie already.

You get paid 3.5 million to teach guys how to play basketball and develop them. Archie doesn't do either

To be fair TJD had 19 points and 14 rebounds against the man beast. Sure he altered his game but still 19 and 14 is a heck of a stat line. The man beast had 16 and 10 so TJD even led him in the stats column.

Lander played a good offensive game. He really gets the ball moving North and south. Our other guards other than Franklin dribble the air out of the ball and move east to west into traffic.
Even though I am a lander fan, he should have been taken off off Frazier or out of the game in the last 3 or 4 minutes of regulation.

Agreed.

For a small stretch of a game, I would like to see the following line up:

Lander, Franklin, Hunter, Race, & TJD just to see what kind of energy if any would come alive.

Lander may still be erratic when he plays but the offense was much faster/popping than with Al or Rob.

In case anyone wanted to know, the last time we had a starter have a 0-0-0 game? This year against Wisconsin. Galloway played 12 minutes as a starter and had 0 points, 0 rebounds, 0 assists, 0 steals, 0 blocks, 0 fouls, 0-1 FG, 1 turnover.

I bet Rob beat Galloway in the "I just fouled someone" stat.

Indeed he did lol. Rob did have a steal though. Galloway though had a much emptier stat line. I'm going to have to go check some Zach McRoberts games though.

Edit: Not even Zach McRoberts had such a game as a starter.

The Sun came out today, what do you know? How we respond to Iowa will be the last deciding factor of the season.

We win, you might keep watching. We lose again, it's over -- pack it up for next season. Going to be weird seeing other teams play in Assembly Hall. Seeing a whole new court in Assembly Hall? Weird.

Much disappointment to go around, but to me, plenty falls on Jerome.

To go through what he went through after all his health issues to get back and be able to play -- only to (supposedly) break team rules just shows incredible immaturity. Not sure exactly what he did (speculation is pot or being late to practice) but he's the only regular who was a DNP-Coach's decision.

Yes, I realize he's still just a kid who made a mistake, but still ... very disappointing. Could've used him last night.

I don’t think there’s a chance Iowa loses both games to IU
