Have you seen what happens on defense when Lander comes in for Phin?  The offense doesn't really hum along with Lander in the game either.  Lander does need to get some minutes but those minutes need to come during certain stretches during the game not just "give him 30 minutes."

I know you are high on the kid, but I have seen absolutely nothing that says he has the most potential, or is a game changer.

There is no way you distribute 105 minutes to Freshmen and 95 to the rest of the team.... then you will be calling for Archie's head when we lose to North Alabama.

Again, what makes you say Lander has more potential than any guard on the team? I have seen nothing to say he is better on offense than Rob, Lander has the worst shooting percentage on the team, most turnovers, 0 Off Rebounds. Add that to the fact that he is helpless on Defense and Rob is lock down....

 

Overall Lander is the LAST guard I want to see playing during any game including this one.... a few minutes here and there yes but not extended minutes... get Leal a few as well but he has shown he isn't ready either.... use the game as it is intended to get time together on the floor against different competition for the lineups we will use moving forward.... Don't have to play anybody full 40 minutes (like Franklin a couple games ago), don't even need to give TJD more 35 (maybe even 30)... but you can't just scrap the practice it gives and give all the minutes to guys who will never (this year at least) play together on the court again.

Leal looks like McRobets without the hustle. Unfortunately, we have a mediocre point guard starting right now. Unless, Coach can get Lander ready this team will be no better than last year.

Has anyone heard anything about TJD tearing into someone (or more than one) after the game? My friend messaged me and asked if I’d heard who it was. He just said he heard it was pretty rough

I believe he talks about it in here.    Basically he said he got into some guys after the loss but nothing but love

Nothing wrong with that. When I played in high school in the early '60s, and and I was not good, we had fist fights during practice. Not everyone liked everyone, but on game night we were a team. To me, chemistry is a little over rated. Learning how to work and cooperate with people you don't necessarily like is one of life's great lessons.

In all seriousness, I love that TJD did that, but also love knowing that this team will respond well and not pout. I’ve said this all along, this team will be a lot better as the season goes along and it’s stuff like that. This team is tough and loves each other, and that will bring them closer and make them better. Just need time on the court together to get it all worked out!

No, but it was a cracker box gym with balcony seating and the wall under the basket being the out of bounds line. The court wasn't regulation length so we had double midcourt lines. Those who are old enough will know what I'm talking about.

Doing that to Lander absolutely screws him and this team. You have to watch the little things with Lander compared to Rob and Durham. How he pushes the ball, how he attacks angles, how he looks at the goal to score. If you want this team to never improve, you keep Lander on the bench. He's the only guy on the roster other than TJD with an NBA future.

Just because a young player has an NBA future doesn’t automatically make him to the best option in college especially when that player should still be playing against high school level talent.   Throwing him into the fire like you say could have the opposite effect on him then you think.   You say not playing him is screwing him and this team but maybe throwing a kid that just turned 18 into situations that he isn’t ready for could destroy his confidence.   Coaches are always  going to play the kids that give them the best chance to win the games in front of them and right now Lander isnt one of those kids yet.   Everyone can see his potential and sees he has the most upside but in my opinion he just isn’t ready for big minutes. He wouldn’t be the first young 5 star kid that has came off the bench and slowly got adjusted to the college game and won’t be the last.

If screwing a team means playing someone based on accolades and not actual production, count me out.

If you can't play him against North Alabama then he might as well sit the be bench all year.
