Class of '66 Old Fart

(2022) - CG Jalen Hood-Schifino to INDIANA

Recommended Posts

Anything you noticed in particular about Gibbs-Lawhorn on the RSL team?

OF, IMHO, Lawhorn showed good quickness and a nice outside shot and a good ability to penetrate. Montverde was so talented, GL didn’t have many opportunities to finish inside. Decent defender. I believe he is better than what he showed last night.

Travis Branham after last night's game.

Jalen Hood-Schifino has continued to progress over the past year in his development and has truly become an impressive primary ball-handler at Montverde. Hood-Schifino plays with a mature approach to the game and does an excellent job of controlling the game for the loaded Eagles' roster.

He consistently made the right reads on Friday night showing off his impressive court-vision and ability to make his teammates better. He has long been considered a combo guard and while he can play off the ball, he now is looking to be more of a point guard than he is a combo.

The Indiana Hoosiers have an impressive talent headed their way and while he is already making a case for earning his fifth star, if he continues to improve his jumper then it will likely become a certainty that he does achieve five-star status.

If we can keep Race and Trayce somehow the infusion of guard talent is going to be a sight to behold

Montverde totally dominates Oak Hill and wins easily 86 - 51.

If you weren't able to watch tonight's Montverde vs Oak Hill game be sure to watch a replay on ESPN.  Hood-Schifino put on a real clinic and while you watch think about him wearing an IU uniform next fall.  He only played 23 min. sitting out the entire 4th Q as Montverde built up a 40-point lead and Oak Hill became subject to a running clock.  He scored 21 pts. on 9-13 FG; 1-2 on 3s; 2-2 FT; 4 reb; 6 asst; 3 stls; 2 TO.

'23 Kwame Evans played 13 min. scoring 4 pts. on 2-5 FG; 0-2 FT; 6 reb; 4 asst; 1 TO.

'24 Derik Queen played 14 min. scoring 3 pts. on 1-3 FG; 1-2 FT; 5 reb; 1 asst; 1 blk.

Yeah, as physically imposing as he is for a HS PG, the moxie is the thing. And this game was a perfect example. Hood-Schifino is 1 of the 2 best players on a floor with nothing but high major kids. Meanwhile, Chris Livingston, who’s been a top 5 kid in this class for years on the strength of his physical maturity and athleticism, didn’t stand out in any way and the game looked pretty fast for him. Hell of a contrast. Forget rankings, 1 of those kids is just more ready for the next level than the other.
