But as of right now, I’d say he’s the most skilled post player we have offensively. Honestly if he could have stayed in shape, he’d start over Brunk. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app As a freshman, De'ron looked like he was going to be that interior presence that was much needed.....but he had a ton of problems with committing fouls. That never really changed. The injuries at this point have slowed him to a point where you see flashes, but a lot of the time it's painful to watch him.....especially if he's forced to defend a quicker player. The weight he put on didn't help either, but that certainly could be a product of the injuries and not being able to get in shape. It is worth mentioning that Brunk had his own history of injuries and was a pretty sought after recruit out of high school when he signed at Butler -- he was the 14th ranked center in his class. Didn't play his freshman year at Butler and redshirted, then barely played the next as he got in shape. And he is still getting better...he's a guy that was getting 7.7 rebounds/40 minutes at Butler last year and is at 11.5 this year at IU. I could see him being an 11/8 guy next year. Quote
Loaded Chicken Sandwich Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 I don't see him getting much time as a freshman other than except as a guy to bring energy and play defense....but it's not exactly a stretch saying an incoming fringe top 150 recruit isn't going to play much when only two players graduate. His projection right now is that of Will Sheehey. Like Sheehey, he was a plus athlete and defender who was not a great shooter coming in. Sheehey was 6'5" coming to IU and grew a couple of inches so he has a couple of inches on Galloway, but Galloway is a better passer coming in that Sheehey was (and ever became). The you are describing -- moves like Brunk, handles worst than Justin, but is 6'3" -- isn't a guy who could ever play in the Big Ten. I have no idea what player you are talking about, but it's not Galloway. I guess you should blame the people making the highlights. But he’s listed at 6-4 and the #135 player in the nation. Looking more like a guy who won’t be able to play the 2 until his Junior or Senior year. And with the player development we’ve seen under Archie... never. I have no idea what player you are talking about, but it's not Galloway. He might just be Remy Abell. Personally, don’t think we should have gone after him considering the problems we have and he’s not likely to actually help fix it like Leal might be. But it’s going to be an underwhelming class for a couple years. The 2020 class won’t get Archie fired like the 2021 class could, but it could hurt him if player development continues as it has Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote
rcbowla Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 Think we're getting two solid guards in Galloway and Leal, and addition won't be purely by subtraction, but just remember a couple years ago we had Newkirk and Green on the same team. hahaI'd take Newkirk right now. Better than any current guard we have. Think about thatSent from my Pixel 3a XL using Tapatalk Quote

He could shoot semi-respectably and turned it over on about an equal level with everyone on the roster now. So edge goes to being a mediocre to bad shooter as compared to an atrocious shooter imoSent from my Pixel 3a XL using Tapatalk Loaded Chicken Sandwich 1 Quote

If there level a play is similar better to play a freshmen over a senior making the same kind of mistakes. At least one has benefits long term. Quote

yogisballin Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 I get more and more angry every time I look at this box score. Absolutely atrocious shooting. Next year is going to be addition by subtraction. I’m not going to name any names bc I’m not going to call out kids but, I would absolutely love to see 2 transfer at the end of season. Now De’Ron and Green I will also be tickled with leaving. I will say that bc they are seniors. There are some cancers on this team, have said it all year. It was there last year too. I’ve been done with this season since the Arkansas game. Last night was the first I’ve sat down to watch in the last 3 games. The 08-09 team was absolutely terrible but they tried and played hard. That, I can watch. But this crap, is another level for me. My passion for IU basketball just isn’t there anymore like it used to be and I hate that. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile appI’m almost certain Damezi is gone. I know for a fact his dad had been talking to Toledo and Wright State preseason. He has no future with this team and I don’t think anybody will be sad about it. If he does in fact choose to transfer as expected, I wish him the best. This team desperately needs a sharp shooter transfer whether it’s a Juco or grad transfer but you HAVE to find a shooter in the offseason or it’s going to be more of the same next year. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Trying to see who would be a grad transfer candidate when it's February is a really fruitless endeavor. There will be plenty of guys in the portal, some who could help. Who knows if we are able to attract a shooter. And as Chris has already posted, even guys we want tend to have a tough time getting in because of our admin. BGVille Hoosierfan and thebigweave 2 Quote
