I'm not sure he is capable of doing that, but it would definitely bring everyone together. You are correct the base would unite. But as someone who has Cheaney's in my family, I know that not even CC or anyone in his family thinks that would be possible. But I know what you're saying. Now would that be the case with Alford? More likely of an option Quote
Loaded Chicken Sandwich Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 It warms my heart to see all you guys realizing that Archie is a terrible coach. Maybe we can all become one family again now! Wonder what took them so long?Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

I know you don't think that is possible but I'm just saying it's not guaranteed he will be fired. Also, we haven't been united since Knight left. Some like Davis, some didn't and the same with Sampson, & Crean. I don't see someone being hired that is going to unite everyone. Oh, I do brother. southernindianahoosier2 Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 Like I said I would love to put that in a contract but you HAVE to get the coach to agree to that provision which is hard. You may NOT have ANY decent coaches to hire if you tried that. Would be worth a shot, just not sure its practical or realistic to get ANY high level coach we need to agree to.If Archie’s options are take a contract at IU that states his buyout reduces in the event he misses the tourney in his first 3 years (does not drop if he makes it), or he doesn’t take the contract. I think he would still take it 10/10 times. Just my opinion tho Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app MikeRoberts and lillurk 2 Quote

There are guys who are really negative influences on the team -- or so it would seem. And I would think we can guess who they are. But every game, the same guys are either starting or getting 25 or so min. of PT. Maybe it comes down from the higher ups that you can't kick guys off, but it certainly doesn't come down from the higher ups that you have to play them so much. It just seems very strange. Don Fisher has said two weeks in a row on Dakich that Archie's hands are tied. But as Dakich said he doesn't have to play them. He might not be able to kick them off, but he certainly doesn't have to play them. MikeRoberts and chicagoHOOSIER 1 1 Quote

I don't know wtf is going on, but it seems unlikely that he just forgot how to coach. The players also just aren't very good. I know it's common for people to argue that rankings don't matter, and then pull out outliers to support their argument, but more often than not the rankings get it right. Bowhunter Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 Maybe something good comes out of the loss to Purdue at home in front of an excited Bobby Knight crowd. Either Archie gets his $hit together and we start winning, maybe this wakes the staff and team up. Or We miss the tournament, and fail to land the upcoming stud recruits to Purdue, Louisville, eTc. If the embarrassment of the last 4 games doesn’t change how we play, then maybe it’s good because we get a new coach sooner than later. Like someone said earlier, this was Archie’s Syracuse game. Or heck maybe our next big coach is watching this, saying look at the passion and appreciation for the General. That could be me someday. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Quote

I’ve literally never seen an offense so awful. How any intelligent basketball mind could ever think this offense would work is beyond me. That’s the biggest thing that needs to change. Brunk and TJD just can’t play together anymore. I know people have a love affair with Brunk, but he’s a guy who should be playing 15-20 minutes depending on TJD being in foul trouble. Archie just doesn’t get it and he’s going to die on the hill that believes this is a good offense. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app lillurk 1 Quote

Why not send a message and play walk-ons? At that point who cares if we lose by 20 or 35 and even if the message isn’t absorbed by Green maybe it would have sunk in with the rest of the team. Quote
