cappymo14 Posted February 3, 2019 Posted February 3, 2019 For what it’s worth, the twitter video was edited specifically to fit this guy’s narrative. He didn’t just randomly attack IU out of the blue, as this Twitter poster would have you all believe. In truth, there was a conversation about the IU/State game, leading to the Dakich comment which is edited out. If you have anger over this tweet, direct it toward twitter video guy. He has attempted to cheat you. Don’t get cheated.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners thebigweave, MoyeNeeded, 8bucks and 3 others 6 Quote
Rico Posted February 3, 2019 Posted February 3, 2019 All I know is Dakich is a IU guy. He loves the Hoosiers. Now he is a media personality...so be it. He does what he does to keep money in his wallet. So be it. I don't get riled up about him. But he does his job well. Quote
Walking Boot of Doom Posted February 3, 2019 Posted February 3, 2019 “Indiana is dealing with a bad approach” or “Indiana is dealing with a bad coach” is a shot at Archie either way. Was that completely out of the blue? What was the context? His co-announcer seemed confused as **** as to where that came from. In short, shove it Jockich. Bowhunter Posted February 3, 2019 Posted February 3, 2019 I don’t have a problem with his comments. He was right about something was wrong with Indiana basketball and it was. He said we had a bad approach and we have had one until last night. He goes overboard a lot, but he does know basketball.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners 8bucks and HoosierDYT 2 Quote
RaceToTheTop Posted February 3, 2019 Author Posted February 3, 2019 For those who are saying that he is just saying things to get viewers.....he basically was telling viewers at ESPN that the IU/MSU game wasn't going to be worth watching. Could be why hid do-announcer was confused. Quote
HinnyHoosier Posted February 3, 2019 Posted February 3, 2019 I feel like Dakich accomplishes what he wants. Example: this thread. Ask yourselves: Does it matter? Kind of compromises his authenticity and makes him a carnie hustler. If that’s entertaining to you, then fine. I think it’s obnoxious and desperate to chase ratings and $$$. He uses IU to shock, get listeners and create reaction - often at IUs expense. If you like to eat at that buffet, then fill yourself up. RaceToTheTop, raorIU, MikeRoberts and 6 others 9 Quote

I'm reading some of the posts on here and it sounds like a few 7 year old kids wondering how so many people can be so STUPID to LIKE something so STUPID! Just comical. Dakich is what he is. Like him or not. His show just won "best mid day show" for 2018, and we have people nitpicking the language of that and others comparing it to winning some YMCA basketball award. Jealous much? Dakich is as loyal to Indiana University as anyone anywhere...which does NOT mean he has to keep his mouth shut if he has a critique. And he also says nobody eats their own like IU. Look at some of the posts here. He ain't wrong. Quote

Would you rather every host be boring, dry, and devoid of anything outside your box? Hell yes, I'll take a buffet over a menu with 2 things on it. Here's a quote from the station : The ability to stir the sports conversation in Indianapolis with strong opinions, big guests, and unwavering passion is what sets Dakich apart. His program has been a staple of The Fan’s lineup, and a key part of the station’s overall success. Listen to his show. Give it a week. Then tell me whether or not you think it's authentic. Quote

I can see how a lot of what Dakich says seems to be “eating our own” but it seems to be okay when he does it. He chooses to do so and leverages past relationship with IU/lingering bitterness to take pot shots, often under the belt blows. Knows his his demo, knows that it will trigger reaction and ratings. Is it projecting or does he not feel like what he does is eating his own? Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app I know he's done it a couple of times referring to Indiana's decision to avoid even interviewing Knight guys for the head coaching position and others not honoring people or teams that deserve it (never Knight himself). I have never once (and I listen a lot because I'm in the car a lot) heard him say anything about Indiana that wasn't generally true or accurate at the time. Maybe I see things the way he sees them and many here don't. That's very possible. But I have not one single time found him to be "eating his own." I've found him refreshingly critical and extremely truthful. His takes this week about Pat Shoulders and the Board of Trustees was square on the head of the nail, for example. Not popular and not what people would ever want to hear; but there are reasons we've been where we have for the last 20 years and he just points them out. Same as he called Clarence Doninger and his BOT idiotic for hiring Gerry DiNardo when Urban Meyer wanted to interview. "we have our man," he was told. "Okay..." he said. But looking out for IU, he knew Meyer (who was the head coach at BGSU at the time) was an up and coming star... Sometimes, coaches know. He knew. And he rips IU for it. True stories don't always equal "eating your own." You know as well as I do NOBODY wants inside scoop more than Indiana fans. He gives it to them in doses and just gets killed for it. Which is the part I don't get. Truth really hurts some people. Quote

Popular Post Hoosierfan2017 Posted February 3, 2019 Popular Post Posted February 3, 2019 3.6/2.0/1.6 Its entirely possible to have a popular radio show without being a complete dbag. Calling Archie "little Archie" isn't "just telling it how it is". The guy's a jerk. Putting him in the Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith category is disrespectful to those two guys. They say wild and outrageous things to get attention, but they're always respectful to their guests. Hovadipo, RaceToTheTop, jk34 and 5 others 8 Quote
