Is it possible that Bruiser was also/instead watching Precious Achiuwa? 6'9" 5 star who hasn't taken any official visits yet and also plays for Montverde. Good grades, great player - thought to be an east coast college player but lots of programs are still sniffing around, and Bruiser is our guy with east coast connections. We've had interest in the past, and Bruiser is pretty tight with HC Kevin Boyle and Rae Miller from the Montverde staff. barrettballer, lillurk, HoosierDYT and 1 other 4 Quote

mamasa Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 I'd read somewhere that he has grade/eligibility issues- anyone know for sure? Quote

If he's at Montverde I suspect he'll be fine. Montverde has an impressive list of bball player grads, but is also a "real school" with very high academic standards. mamasa and lillurk 1 1 Quote
Demo Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 Not sure about that shot. Release looks low and slow. Needs work. Other than that, the rest of his game looks super solid. Seems to be virtually ambidextrous. His left hand drives/finishes/passes look great. Love that. He and Franklin could be really nasty defensively on the perimeter. Quote

VO5 Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 Snow said today that a big hurdle for this recruitment is that the people around Harlond don’t want him to play in the BIG. They don’t like the style and think it will hurt him. If that’s not a buzzkill.. lillurk, Class of '66 Old Fart, HoosierDYT and 2 others 5 Quote

Uspshoosier Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 Why do you think it is? Too much physicality / emphasis on team basketball / less exposure? Many view it as tackle basketball. Grab and hold defense. It’s crazy how B1G refs call games and then the same refs go and work the next night in a different conference and call a game completely different. Romeo is the highest rated player to play in the B1G since Jared Sullinger. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Class of '66 Old Fart, Alford Bailey, yogisballin and 3 others 6 Quote

See what USPS posted above, I don't think Big Ten allows for the free flowing game style. It's more the grind it out type of basketball. I don't think that style will win a national championship in today's game. I can completely understand why people in his circle would prefer he goes somewhere else. Quote

A Big 10 team hasn't won since 2000, but they've had a team in the championship game 7 times in the past 18 years and 3 in the past 6. They just haven't had a team get over that last hump recently. I think a big issue is talent acquisition. There are about 4 teams in the BIG that can get top tier talent. IU, OSU, MSU, and UM. Teams like Wisconsin, Purdue, etc get players that basically tackle you and body you on D. I’m not being salty, it’s just the truth. And don’t get me started on the refs. There’s a reason that I think BIG refs are the worst of any sport. thebigweave 1 Quote

I would add Maryland to the list of teams that can get top tier talent. The officiating in the Big Ten is laughable but... it continues game after game and year after year. Stuhoo Posted February 13, 2019 Posted February 13, 2019 Zee writing is on zee wall. We need a culture shift and more players that play with passion and focus. We have two, maybe three schollies that are going to open for sure. We will likely be saying goodbye bye to more than three current players. IUrocker and mdn82 2 Quote
