Green is a spotty shooter, as is Durham. Both need to iron that out for us to achieve maximum success.

I like what I see from Smith, Hunter, Race better than what I saw/seeing from our guards.

Hopefully this stuff about Green pans out because I’ve always been a big advocate of his potential. He certainly has potential.

Ideally he won’t be shooting too often

Greene, Romeo, McRoberts, Morgan, Fitzner

That’s a fair assessment as McRoberts brings a “do anything for the team” approach. How many players that started as walk ons have ever been named a captain in Indiana history? Probably never. I do think it will be hard to keep Hunter off the court though. Many said he couldn’t guard a 2 yet from what I have heard; he checked Romeo very well during the scrimmage. Depending on who we are playing, I think either Smith or Fitzner starts and Hunter replaces McRoberts as the season progresses. The point is Green’s to solidify early but he will be on a very short leash. If he plays erratic like last year, he will lose his starting status also. Arch is in a unique position to be very deep this year and has Durham and RP waiting in the wings. Anderson, Jake, and Race will also get minutes so there’s our rotation. As much as we hear how Moore has improved, I just don’t see him getting minutes ahead of our other bigs. PT will be very hard to come by which should make for a very entertaining and successful year.

M&M. I’m liking it. But how can you not start Smith? Suppose he gets hot from the jumper and scores 16 points per game... we will see about it.

If McRoberts can show leadership while NOT starting, that can be extremely helpful in setting an example of hard work and focus for others that wish they were getting more minutes during the season.

This so much. If possible i would always pick a guy off the bench to be a captain

I don't think this should be taken as an indication regarding the likelihood of McRoberts starting.

I think he is one the hardest working and scrappiest players we have but probably also one of the quietest (based on his demeanor, could be wrong).  I think naming him captain gives him both the onus and legitimacy to be more of a vocal leader.

It would make it easier for him to take on a leadership role if he's not starting, tbh.

Maybe so.  I guess we'll see when the games start.  It feels so close now that HH is over :)

They also hyped McRoberts as "the hardest working man in college basketball" at Hoosier Hysteria and named him a captain...my guess is he gets the start in the first game and can either keep it or lose it as the season progresses.

How about
Durham
Langford
McRob
Morgan
Fitzner
We were like 330th last year for three point shooting. Surely this lineup would improve that

Not sure how true it is but heard on a podcast that McRoberts' shot has improved more than anyone else this offseason!

That would be awesome for the team. I really hope that is reflected in the games. That kid deserves it the work he puts in.

The first step will be McBob actually taking those shots with confidence. Defenses will be focusing on Morgan and Romeo, hopefully Green if he's improved. That'll leave McBob, Fitzner, and others with open looks. If we can consistently hit those open looks, unlike last season, we'll be a dangerous team offensively. It'll also force the defense to rotate and give Smith and Durham open lanes to slash for easy buckets.

I was at HH and from what I saw from the scrimmage ( I know it's a small sample size and it's a SCRIMMAGE), but Green looked to be the same player trying make the impossible passes with all risk very low reward type plays, took a couple quick shots and didn't even look to get Romeo the ball hardly at all. I was never a fan of him last year and he has to prove to me that he can lead this team, otherwise I start RP over him. He won't do anything flashy but he'll do everything asked of him and will make the right plays. This team with its talent/shooting, doesn't need to be making forced plays like it did last year. If I'm Archie I put Green on a VERY short leash. As far as what you said about Hunter, you were spot on. He was checking Romeo and playing physical and looked like he belonged out there just as much as anyone else and is physically ready to handle anything thrown his way.

I start the game with

Green

Romeo

Smith

Morgan

Fitzner

But I make sure that I have McRoberts in there to finish a game. He can get us a stop on the defensive end when we need it.

Those are the same five that I thought! I assume the rest of our bench goes like this:

McRoberts

Durham

Hunter

Phinisee

Thompson

Forrester gets some minutes with his high energy for me. Phinisee I think is going to be really good, but I think he is going to have a learning curve this season.

I too think he is on a short leash. I think he is your starting PG right now but If Phinisee shows he is capable then I think he may take over the starting PG spot. We will see. Might be the biggest question mark on the team.

Jake looked awesome in the scrimmage. I am not worried about our frontcourt at all. I am just curious on how deep Archie will go. The end of our bench is as good as it has been in a LONG time. I just hope guys will buy into the program even if they don't play right away.

That leaves out Forrester, De'Ron, Clifton, and Damezi.  I'm not really disagreeing with you, more wondering how you justify leaving all those guys on the bench.  I guess because there's 10 guys better?  Man.
