(2018) QB Michael Penix to IU

Penix a QB out of Tamp Bay, played at Tampa Bay Tech has picked up a few crystal balls for IU today. He visited us on the 11th and FSU this past weekend. I have heard we will get him or Bohanon as we made his top 4 as well. Bohanon is higher rated, but Baylor may have the slight edge but we do have a strong shot.

Back to Penix though he threw 30 touchdowns to only 5 picks and led his team to an 11-2 mark. I will be extremely happy with him or Bohanon. 

We are doing a bunch of signing day stuff for those who want to keep up on the info.

I think he is listed as a Pro Style but he can move a little bit for sure. Definitely wants to throw first! Lefty too. Nice looking prospect. Would be pumped for he or Bohanon

I saw on twitter that he was high on FSU and was ready to commit but they told him it was an uncommittable offer because they were still trying to flip Justin Fields from Georgia. If true, I don't think he's happy that he was seen as a plan B.

both are only 6'2/6'3.  Hopefully that is tall enough for a pro style QB.

At that height, one would hope for some good mobility but as long as he has a good arm and can escape pressure, then bring him on.

Hell, after seeing this video, I'm just impressed that he could tell which guy he needed to throw to. Both teams were wearing very similar dark blue jerseys. Seems strange to me that officials didn't make one team change.

The offensive line looked like Indiana. At least he would be used to having to scramble on every play

I'd say Penix officially moves RT to another position except for gadget plays.

Seems to me like the quarterback battle for the beginning of next season will be between Ramsey and Tronti, with Penix either a red-shirt or laying in wait if no one cements he job.

I think Penix has a shot at starting right away, especially with him being here for spring practice.

I've been tough on Allen but it looks like he has brought in a very solid class. Hopefully it can translate onto the field!

Nice! Now we've got some real competition for the QB spot. Hopefully we see an improved o-line.
