Anyone see how deep this usually goes down the ranking scale? For example if one and done guys get $150,000 do some lower 4* guys get some money too?

I imagine any player the shoe companies think has a legit shot at the NBA might be able to get some money.

I can't imaging $250k is all it took to buy Davis. Or a Wiggins. Mudiay went abroad and received a one year $1 million dollar contract, and a shoe deal with Under Armor. Let's assume that was AT LEAST $500k a year.

$1.5 million for one year by skipping college? $250K is a joke, in my opinion.

We tracked him through this past AAU season.

2019 6-foot-5 shooting guard David Johnson has announced his decommittment from Louisville, “I’ve decided that I’ll be reopening my recruitment,” Johnson told Evan Daniels of Scout. Johnson originally pledged his allegiance to Louisville on September 15th. With the bribery scandal leading to Pitino’s recent departure, he has decided to reopen his recruitment. Kentucky and Xavier were two schools that showed significant interest in Johnson before he committed.  Johnson is no. 61 overall and the no. 9 shooting guard per 247Sports for the Class of 2019.

Yeah, it does seem low relatively. UK fans are saying Ayton from Arizona got 500k. It wouldn't surprise me at all for a top guy like him.

It's funny though how UK fans acknowledge and believe Ayton got 500k but UK players don't get paid. LOLzzzz

I just remember the 250k Davis rumors swirling. Who really knows how much they get. ? Hopefully the FBI.

Sounds like that might be a prominent analyst rather than a prominent coach. I could be wrong.

I'm thinking it's not referencing Crean, but who?

Follow up tweet is about Chip Kelly. Dumb article with GREAT click bait.

The sun sets on another day without the Tom Crean tell-all bombshell...

Anyone else get the feeling the NCAA tipped off the FBI because of how the Louisville strippergate was handled by Louisville and they were frustrated they couldn't pin Louisville better than they did.

The other connections were collateral damage of the investigation.

This has been going on for years. The NCAA knew what was going on. The FBI wouldn't get involved without a tipoff. So, why now? And ironic Louisville is getting the brunt of it all.

Thoughts?

This fell into the FBI's lap after nailing someone on Wall Street for an unrelated matter who decided to talk. NCAA was not involved.

In the wake of Roy Williams' "I'm shocked" statement, interesting piece from Yahoo Sports discussing Roy's selective amnesia.

This is the dirtiest coach in college basketball imo. He has more infractions than Calipari and is still being investigated. The minute he gets busted (again) will be a very happy moment for me.

Speaking of good ole Roy they landed Nassir Little today. He was the top recruit that likely would have committed to AZ without the allegations out there about offering $$$ for his services. Was heavily considering Miami as well so this kid was obviously involved with a lot of this activity. With the door open, UNC spoops in and picks him. Little mentioned UNC was the school he wanted to go to all along. Highly doubt that.

So they say. It would never be admitted. Ever.   Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app

"Fell into their lap" is NOT accurate. Some agents go their whole career without anything good "falling into their laps."

Truly effective law enforcement officers think of everyone they meet as an opportunity to leverage information into valuable intelligence and another great case. And that includes defendants from the case they're finishing. Crappy law enforcement officers treat defendants like crap, and therefore seldom learn anything from them.

And when undercover FBI agents are involved, it is highly, highly unlikely that an unaffiliated regulatory agency such as the NCAA would ever be invited into the process. That would be a risk to agent safety, the covert operation, and the secrecy of the federal grand jury.

It's been on record that this stemmed from a completely unrelated/non-sports investigation. They weren't looking for it.
