Str8Hoosiers Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 I agree that could be a tough spot... surprised to hear people say that is Davis though... I have huge expectations for Davis but would never suspect that he would be the guy to create offense at the end of the shot clock, I feel he has more of a deliberate take your time kinda back to the basket skill set.... When being forced to go fast I don't see him being as effective (When the clock is running out) I am hopeful that the creator will be Green even if it is creating for others with his vision and passing ability, or Newkirk if can learn/continue to finish at the rim more consistently. But those are some what ifs and some wishes so I can see that being a major weakness this year... but hopefully the offense won't just stand around for 25 seconds and then force in 5.... maybe we can not have too many late clock situations that will turn the games. HoosierCoop Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Hartman would be the one I would keep an eye on. He is the guy that can knock down that three, or slip in on a back door, or be in the right place for a put back rebound. I am also intrigued to see if CuJo has improved. I can see him being a very smooth player with explosive offensive skills. Given the right set, he could be a dagger to opposing teams. lillurk 1 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 I have to agree with Pap that at this moment there just doesn't seem to be that one player you want with the ball in their hand in that situation. If I absolutely had to pick one at the start of the season, I'd like the ball in Hartman's hands. I don't think he can create his own shot in those circumstances, but if the other players can get the ball to him, I'll take a Hartman jump shot. Hopefully, by the time B1G starts, we'll have a better idea of just who Mr. Clutch may be. Quote
HoosierCoop Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Romeo Langford . . . Oh wait, that's next season! WayneFleekHoosier, Stuhoo, ALASKA HOOSIER and 1 other 4 Quote
hoosierpap Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 I think we're split here talking about two different situations. I took this as late clock, offense broke down, iso/create shot w some semblance of consistency Stuhoo, WayneFleekHoosier, IUsafety and 3 others 6 Quote

All kidding aside, if we had Romeo Langford this year he would, at age 17, probably be our #1 late shot clock option. lillurk, WayneFleekHoosier and HoosierCoop 3 Quote
Brass Cannon Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Hopefully unlike past seasons we can at least hold onto the ball and get a shot off. You know something small like that. Str8Hoosiers, Dalton26, HoosierCoop and 1 other 4 Quote

ElectricBoogaloo Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 I think it's Rojo, but he won't be nearly as good as Yogi doing it. Quote

Ollie is bound to be fouled, and then Ollie will sink the free throws granny style. That scene never gets old but Chitwood making the shot at the end is still a classic. HoosierCoop 1 Quote
TXHoosierDaddy Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 I'll go with Newkirk but I could see Green/Davis emerging as go to guys later in the season. Quote
Demo Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 I would be concerned if it turns to be anyone but Johnson. That would indicate to me that he isn't having the kind of senior year this team needs to really compete. Don't really see anyone else filling that role. Lebowski Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 Whoever they match-up against. I can see multiple guys being called for that shot and it truly depends on the competition. Even a guy like Hartman could be a nice option. They have depth which is a really good thing to have. Quote
