Yes I think you are correct about that. From everything I have been told the staff might think they will still need a guard or PG in the 19 class. You hearing the same thing?

No, I haven't heard it specifically. More or less, was referencing an email chain I'm in and overall approach to recruiting with Archie. Didn't mean to imply I had heard that from the staff. Basic conversation was, Archie believes in balance. Overall w the team but also within the class, within reason. Obviously, you recruit to your need but there is a balance in mind. Also, totally depends on how '18 class ends. It's my opinion that you always need a PG, quality varies based on roster comp.

Is it me, or does that seem reasonably achievable?
Because it would also be fantastic.

It does right now. It is right now. But '19 is a ways a way and things change. Not trying to put the kabosh on it because right now it's realistic...I know I say it all the time but recruiting is just so fluid. So many variables.

I know IU's fanbase thinks IU should be above it but....I'm leaning the other way. Just the reality of recruiting. I know others will disagree.

I'm with you, and I think it largely comes down to who the coach is. A guy like Crean makes a big spectacle about not playing in the gray area or messing with recruits where there's some shadiness, to the extent that you end up ticking off various handlers, AAU programs, opposing coaches, etc. Not a good look or way to play it, and probably loses you future kids as well.

Other coaches back-up the brinks truck and are willing to do anything to get a player, even if it means compromising/jeopardizing his entire program. Also, a very bad look and way to play it.

I feel like with Archie IU has a "coaches coach", and I think we're going to see benefits from that in a variety of different areas, but recruiting is a big one. He's grown up in the gym and around coaches. He knows how to speak with these people, and has seen this movie before. He'll know and understand how to play these situations in a way that doesn't compromise IU, but allows the program to play with the big boys of the recruiting world.

I understand, but not me.
I'm not trying to be all high and mighty, I simply believe that it is entirely possible to win with kids that have some interest in being student athletes and who are guided by parents, not handlers.

It is possible, just significantly more improbable. I do get your side of it though

Everything may think I'm nuts, but I truly believe college basketball would be better to get rid of the one year rule completely. Just let them go straight to the NBA from high school

The NCAA can't do anything about the one and done rule. The NBA makes the decision.
