David Duke, the 6-foot-5 combo guard from Cushing (MA) Academy, told D1Vision on Sunday that Providence, Virginia Tech, Florida and Virginia are among the schools recruiting him the hardest. He broke down each school:

Providence: “Coach [Ed] Cooley is a great guy, who shows me that I’m their top recruit and he has a great record of developing his point guards to get them NBA ready.”

Virginia Tech: Buzz [Williams] has built Virginia Tech up by doing all the right things and he recruits players who play hard. I like their playing style and he also has told me that they’re on me hard as one of their top recruits.”

Florida: “I love how they play and I’ve built a relationship with their coaches. They have a good situation for me there. They see my potential and say they can develop me.”

Virginia: “Coach [Tony] Bennett and his staff have picked up their recruitment within the past couple weeks and he’s told me I’m their top recruit as a guard. They also have a unique situation there for me.  They’re a great academic school as well as their athletics.”

Duke later mentioned that Villanova, Kansas, and Indiana should be included among schools that have been recruiting him the hardest. He broke down each school for D1VISION:

Villanova: “They have me as a top recruit. They believe [Jalen] Brunson will be leaving which creates an opportunity for me.”

Indiana: “They have shown great interest and [although] they have commits in the class, they are looking for a guard. They believe I fit well in their system.”

Kansas: “They’ve had a lot of success with their guards in past years and they play at the highest level of basketball. They play hard and fast and most importantly are known for winning.”

According to 247Sports, Duke is ranked as the No. 47 overall player in the Class of 2018 and the No. 2 player from the state of Massachusetts. He currently holds more than 20 offers but may cut his list soon.

“There’s no set time,” said Duke on when he may cut his list. “But I’ll say couple more weeks before I even think about cutting it.”

Playing with Mass Rivals on the Adidas Gauntlett, Duke has averaged 8.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists, through six games. Duke’s teammate with Mass Rivals, AJ Reeves, committed to Providence last month.

Truly believe he goes to Providence, but thought we were out on him. Guess not and it is good news regardless. Never hurts to be in a top 75 kids final list. Specially a position of need to put pressure on the other offers.

Kinda wonder if we view him as more of a Romeo backup

I don't think so. This kid is good. I have no clue why people on here act like he ain't. Little overrated, but he is top 60 at least and that is pretty good. Looks like we will be getting visits from Duke, Garland, RP(if he dont commit before), Romeo, Akinyo and possibly Devoe and Days. We are in a great spot for talent. I feel like we end up with a top 10 class at the end of the season.

I would bet a lot of money that IU doesn't get him

Besides Providence there isn't much difference between the 4 schools. The Friars got Makai who was close to being a 5 star at pg so maybe that is a angle the coaches to take with him. Nothing official but have seen he plans to visit every school on his list. Any kid we get a visit from I believe we have a shot with. Specially PG's. Archie has always had outstanding relationships with his points.

I'm just not seeing it with Duke. Phinisee and Garland is where it's at for IU. If not, it should be
