2018 General Recruiting Thread

I'm sure it's not a top guy or nothing for each position though, like if we miss on Garland we could still take Phinisee, but if we miss on Langford and Dort, we might not take another 2. Depending on how CAM rates each individual.

I can't see us taking only 2 for 2018. That would leave us with 9 scholarship players and 4 open ones. That's just crazy talk. I get banking a few for 2019 but not 4 of them

Wont we nwwd more than two? I think we only return 7 players on scholorship unless im wrong on that.

I heard Ken Bikoff on the radio today, and he said one thing he knows for sure is we're not going to just blindly offer scholarships to just anyone and end up with stiffs like Jeremiah April, Peter Jurkin, or Priller.  That was music to my ears.  Why we went to Texas to get Priller is beyond my realm of understanding.  Crean's spend on recruiting was > $600k most of the time.  Meanwhile, Wisconsin spent about $60k.   You think Glass was happy spending that kind of cash on recruiting to end up with the scrap heap Indiana did under Crean?

Guy-Marc Michele?  Stanford Robinson?  Bawa Muniru?  Tijan Jobe?  Peter Jurkin?  Jeremiah April?  Max Hoetzel?   Sometimes....there are no words.

It's official.  I want Aaron Henry.  For some reason I haven't paid much attention to him.  But then I just read the recent article about him where he talks about wanting to play for IU, and that goes a long way.  In the same way Al Durham found his way into our favor through his loyalty, Aaron Henry comes off the same way.  Also, I love that he's a local kid being forged in the fire of Indiana Basketball, at a stalwart like Ben Davis, no less.  It's pretty old school to have one of our local heroes come play for us like this.

And finally, the dude can play basketball!  Inside moves, steals, perimeter game (over 40% from 3fg, and lots of slick drives like a true wing), and a major communicator out there.  Excellent size.  

He's not a super splashy name, but he has a polished game and a good attitude.  I hope Archie extends the offer, and Aaron Henry comes to play in Bloomigton.

Agree 100%. He's a guy you can stick anywhere and will feel pretty comfortable about his skillset. He's really jumped up my wishlist lately and I'm surprised he doesn't have more high major offers.

Watching him improve throughout the high school season last year it was only matter of time before high major teams took notice. For me it became clear at the end of the year he should of been a higher priority then Jallow or Easley. His defense and slashing ability impressed me the most during their run to the championship. His shot is a work in progress

Crean was not a good recruiter. He was all over the place

Thank you.  The reason you haven't paid much attention is the same reason nobody else has.  He's not flashy of a big name is because he doesn't need the ball.  He doesn't pile up stats.  This kid basically shut Wilkes (EDIT)  down.  He was by far the most fundamentally sound kid I saw in the state tournament, and somebody taught that kid well.  He's an aggressive defender who has all the skills on both ends of the floor.  He is a fantastic team mate.  He is a leader.  THIS is the kind of 3-4* kid Indiana needs.  he's a LOT better than his ranking,  He would be at least a 3-year kid, and this is the kind of player I want at Indiana.  I obviously want kids like Langford too; but if we got Henry and Phinnessee?  Our 2018 class would be incredible in my mind no matter who else were in it.

Well sh!t...that's a pretty freaking encouraging first-hand report.  And you can bet that if he shut down Wilkes, Coach Schilling knows all about that.

I know absolutely nothing about him nor have I ever watched his highlights. But based on what people are saying here and on your comments, he sounds like a player who would be an integral asset to a championship run. Sort of like a Theo Pinson for UNC or Chris Douglas Roberts from Memphis awhile back. Offer him CAM!

When did he play Romeo? I don't remember them playing New Albany but from the 8 games I watched of him last year he improved every game and he is an excellent defender

He outplayed Wilkes in the regional game at Southport
