Why is he ranked so low if he is shutting these guys out? I don't get it.

A number of reasons.  He probably didn't show it in the AAU circuit in his early years       At the beginning of last year he wasn't even close to the player he was at the end of the year.   He had an awesome 4 week run in sectionals, regionals, semi state and finals.  If IU offers hopefully he stays under the radar.   I will be watching him this upcoming year during the high school season if he goes to IU or is still uncommitted

Regional game last year against North Central where he outplayed Wilkes

I meant, Hoosierfan2017 said (two-three posts ago, about an hour or so) he hoped CAM makes an offer to the kid "after tonight's game". From that, I assumed he meant an AAU event currently going on, not a state tourney game from last year.

"Tonight" doesn't equal "Last year".

Or does it? I'm blaming DST for the confusion.

See above.  Rankings have NOTHING to do with fundamental play, how a kid leads, or defensive ability.  Rankings are almost exclusively based on what a kid can do with the ball.   Meaningless in many cases, Henry's included.

Oh no I just meant that hearing about Henry outplaying Wilkes during the high school season is impressive, and that I hope Archie offers him tonight after watching his 8:00 pm game.

I don't believe coaches can communicate with recruits. I think this is merely an observation period.

Although, as with most things, I could be wrong.

Does that include offering scholarships? He tweeted this morning about receiving a UMass offer, but idk when exactly it was extended.

I don't think you can text  call a kid to offer a scholly. Might be able to contact a coach. Not sure

Garland, Romeo, and Brown added to next year's roster would have the potential of being a super team.

Are we serious players for Brown though? I don't see Brown playing behind Davis nor Davis behind Brown. Thompson seems much more likely for the type of big we'll land in 2018.

Maybe Archie would try to play Davis at PF?

You are correct.  Coaches are not permitted any direct contact with recruits.  In fact, at the evaluation events, coaches must sit in a specially designated roped off area and they must enter and exit the event sites from specifically designated access points completely separate from the ones used by players.  There's more but that's all I can remember off the top of my head.

Davis would struggle to guard most college 4s. I guess there's a way they both get 20 mpg, give or take a few, as the 5 and then some run together each half. IU needs to strive to get there but I don't see it happening in year two of CAM.

I heard Ken Bikoff on the radio today, and he said one thing he knows for sure is we're not going to just blindly offer scholarships to just anyone and end up with stiffs like Jeremiah April, Peter Jurkin, or Priller.  That was music to my ears.  Why we went to Texas to get Priller is beyond my realm of understanding.  Crean's spend on recruiting was > $600k most of the time.  Meanwhile, Wisconsin spent about $60k.   You think Glass was happy spending that kind of cash on recruiting to end up with the scrap heap Indiana did under Crean?

Guy-Marc Michele?  Stanford Robinson?  Bawa Muniru?  Tijan Jobe?  Peter Jurkin?  Jeremiah April?  Max Hoetzel?   Sometimes....there are no words.

Ranking-wise, Stan showed decent potential and was a 4 star coming in. Only exception, but I agree

Stan was sinking like a punctured ship. Was 50-75 range. Ended 90-110 range. Bad senior season and it was noticed.

Agree, there was some potential there though in the right system. Mis ranked though to start.

Right. His composite was 64th in the country. I liked Max too and thought he would be a solid 4 year player. Tijan really didn't cost anything. The rest I agree with for sure.

Sounds like we are in good shape with race Thompson per Minneapolis paper. Sounds like its down to 3 schools.

There is a small chance that Thompson comes to IU in the 17 class. But I would put him at 90% IU lean for 18.

I've said many times, rankings mean very little.  This is a kid who changed shooting hands while in college.   I would think if a kid were struggling that badly, a college coach should have known and a 4* ranking would have been BS.  We sure didn't need to travel as far as we did to find a player who gave us what he gave us.
