I'm with you there and I believe he mentioned visiting IU after the Egypt trip.

Don't know anything, but I get a feeling that it is a two team race for Romeo. I'm sticking with my thought that pUKe is out of it even with Calipari coaching him this summer. We are one of the two. If you are a true one and done...Doesn't make a diff where you go! You're still a one and done. NBA scouts don't care where you go.

UK is absolutely in the running for Romeo Langford.

IDK, it's well know down here in NA that the parents are not fans of the `factory'.

I hope/wish you are right...it's not what I'm hearing.

Not doubting IU has a chance though. He'll be a late decider; would be very helpful if we got off to a nice start next year.

That's my concern. If we don't get recruits in line, then Archie struggles this season and misses the tournament.

It could be disastrous if things align in that fashion.

Momentum could be shot once again. In my opinion we need to strike while new hire/hope momentum is in full swing. Otherwise we need Archie to have a standout year to gain or maintain whatever momentum we might have now from the hire.

LOL, it's just JULY and my faith is fizzling.

It's actually funny to laugh at myself.

Hard to see us getting Dort, Garland, Romeo, King.

Predictions: Dort to Oregon, Garland to Duke, Romeo to Duke/UK, and King to UK.

Guess I'm going to have to be content with whatever we get and pull my head out of the clouds once again.

(Two months of recruiting delusions were fun while they lasted).

Phinisee, Hunter types aren't going to get me going. Will just have to wait and see.

But if Archie's first IU class was Anderson, Race, Duke and Jerome Hunter we should be extraordinarily satisfied.

It would be great to get some recruits but I never expected Archie to come in and have a great class this year. He has a solid group of talented players on the roster now so unless they don't buy in we should have a good year. If they buy in fully we could even have a very good year.

Had we hired an established veteran coach I may have expected a lot on the recruiting trail early but we hired the best up and comer. Going that route may take a little longer.

I will not get concerned unless we finish in the bottom quartile of the BT and if we don't seem to be improving during the year. I will be concerned if are not set up for a big run in years 3 on.

Big IF, and should we?

2 starting guard spots and a potential starting SF spot to sell. Also, several 5 stars could come in and start over our Positions of power. So in a way we could be selling 5 starting spots. If DD has a breakout year, he could decide to bolt.

Maybe true, but in that case we are admitting we aren't a Blueblood any longer, right? The national championship talk and Glass' high expectations didn't sound like it was a 3-4 year plan.

I think we're teetering on the edge of blue blood status. If the years keep going by and we aren't contending, schools like Villanova and Xavier will pass us up. Right now unless we get a top 10 or so class for next year it looks like it'll be the 3rd year when we actually make noise.

We have to be realistic. Crean was not likely going to get us over the hump so we sent him packing. What is the hump, building a championship level program and one that consistently wins at a high level.

Expectations for a blue blood are what we have set but I doubt that they will consider things a failure if we don't wing a championship this year or next year.

This year, if the kids buy in, we should be an upper quartile team with a chance to make a run in the tourney. If we lose a lot of guys next year we may then reload and build for the 3rd year where we make another run.

I think it is wise to say we have blue blood expectations and blue blood capabilities and that is what we are building towards. In the interim I think we could still have sweet sixteen capable teams.

This has been said on various boards for 20 years. At this point I would be content with us saying we weren't a blue blood if it meant not expecting a top ten class on July 3. JULY 3 lol. We are having the blue blood talk on JULY 3 due to not getting any commits so far. I don't give a damn if Coach K was recruiting for us we would not have any commits. Before anyone asks how I know that understand he doesn't have any commits. He is recruiting the types of kids we want. Lmao it is July 3rd.

I agree. And that is why a lot of us expect that top ten class this year. He is the hot new thing at a "blueblood" with plenty of playing time to offer in a huge class. No reason we can't at least land several 4* caliber players, like 3 or more.

The sweet sixteen talk for this upcoming season is just fantalk. There is nothing to indicate we are a sweet sixteen capable team this coming season. We are a sweet sixteen type team this season the same way Georgia Tech, Illinois, Seton Hall and 100 other teams are sweet sixteen teams.

Man you are really a pessimist. We are capable of a sweet sixteen run. We have the experience and talent. If that talent does not buy in the we won't get there but it is certainly possible. More possible than a top 5 class this fall.

Until we show we can compete for the type of recruits (we haven't) that Duke, Kansas, and UK are competing for we need to win some of the battles we are TRYING to win at smaller stages.

Of course we will find guys as the recruiting cycle unfolds but again (much like Crean) it may be guys 2 or 3 spots removed from where we are aiming.

Good players we want are committing now. Admittedly it's early, but top guys we want are committing. A lost recruiting battle in June hurts similar to a lost battle in November.
