Popular Post WayneFleekHoosier Posted December 14, 2018 Popular Post Posted December 14, 2018 Absolutely hate it for Jerome. Absolutely Love it for Indiana and class balance. My only real wish is he gets healthy and can fulfill his athletic potential. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners IUsafety, VO5, Stromboli and 12 others 15 Quote

Best of luck to the young man. Can’t wait to see him suit up for the Hoosiers. I believe they only do Heparin in the hospital, not sure they give that out of the hospital. If he's on Coumadin (Warfarin) I don't see how he would be cleared to play. Depending on the condition, he could come off of blood thinners after so many months, and possibly still have a career. I initially did 6-8 months of Coumadin before being taken off of it. Ranger78 1 Quote

I hope they can put him on any of the newer ones. I've never been on it, but I've had to deal with folks' complications from Coumadin and that medication can be an s.o.b. more times than not. I'm sure Aloha can attest to that. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

rcbowla Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 Feel awful for the kid. The main thing is that he is healthy. A lineup of Rob, Al, Jerome, Keion, and TJD seems like a pretty good team! And very young/inexperiencedSent from my Pixel XL using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

I got popped once and it was a fountain and I wasn’t on anything Long story short, I stopped a surfboard with my head shortly after stopping Coumadin (I typically stopped taking it about 4 days before I knew I would be surfing, not recommended). I was slightly above a normal level and bled everywhere. The docs at the ER were ticked I wasn’t taking it but if my INR level would have been between the recommended range I would have bled out before ever reaching shore. Hunter would have access to doctors and staff who could drop his INR level quickly ( vitamin K) to get the bleeding to stop. However, the amount of bruising and possible internal bleeding that would occur from playing basketball at the college level while on blood thinners wouldn’t be worth the risk. I don’t know any doctor that would sign off on something like that. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app HinnyHoosier, JaybobHoosier, IUsafety and 2 others 5 Quote
Brass Cannon Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 Yep sounds like ball handling, shooting and film for Hunter for the next 6-8 months. JaybobHoosier 1 Quote

biteoftheapple Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 Just my view..yes he is but and unlikely to play this season.. But we have no real idea the ailment. While what is said about the meds and a certain injury is true, we do not know his truth. JaybobHoosier 1 Quote

From what I have heard he can do everything but contact. Which would seem to indicate he’s still on blood thinners. Upside is his conditioning and knowledge of the offense will be there. Quote

mdn82 Posted April 25, 2019 Posted April 25, 2019 Does anyone have enough Medical knowledge to know if he can ever come off of those?Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile appSure. If all things go well and he doesn’t clot (if that’s the issue he has) after he has been off of blood thinners for a period of time then yes. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote
mdn82 Posted April 25, 2019 Posted April 25, 2019 I’m sure he would know if that were the case. Agreed. I am pretty sure I read Brandon Ingram is expected back within a year of his. A lot depends on the procedure and how his body has adjusted after the meds. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote
HoosierAloha Posted April 25, 2019 Posted April 25, 2019 Does anyone have enough Medical knowledge to know if he can ever come off of those? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile appA lot depends on genetics and history of clotting. (If this is the cause of him being out) My somewhat educated guess would be them pulling him off blood thinners for awhile to see if he clots again. This is dangerous within itself because cloys can kill. I’m sure he’ll have excellent doctors and specialist looking at his case though. My guess, if he is on blood thinners because of clotting... he’ll stop taking them sometime in the next month or so. He’ll be off the blood thinners for around a week before he’s cleared for contact. He’ll be cleared for contact and resume a normal life. They’ll keep an eye on him and might even do some ultrasounds to check he’s not clotting again. To keep this post somewhat on track, I wouldn’t be upset seeing Quinones and Hunter run on the wing together. However, I don’t think we land Quinones.
