Capt. Crimson Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 Well we can cross Alford off the list then. I like DD but he's usually off when it comes to anything IUBB head coach related. Feel the same way. Crossing my fingers he's not right on this one. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Dalton26 and Napleshoosier 2 Quote
woodenshoemanHoosierfan Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 Thats a big if though about him playing here. Any other candidate that came through IU if they were clean and were top notch coach he would probably be my first choice behind only Brad and maybe Billy D depending on his success. The IU thing is huge IMO but Alford has to many red flags and is dangerously in Calipari territory now. UK runs itself now so Cal has quieted the talk but seems like Alford is winning to pick it up for him. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile appThat's my point. Had he not played for IU,those red flags would be a deterrent for those who support him now.Sent from my SM-T377V using Tapatalk Quote
Capt. Crimson Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 Janitor has other sources that are connected. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBannersJust my opinion. Don't feel like we've gotten any truly solid information this year that hasn't been a parrot of what someone else is saying. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Hovadipo 1 Quote
CandyStripers Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 Would Alford really be an upgrade from Crean. I really don't think so. I actually think Crean is every bit as good of a coach as Alford is.Sent from my SM-G930V using BtownBanners mobile app woodenshoemanHoosierfan and Deserthoozier 2 Quote

Stuhoo Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 Dakich could have very easily said "Alford to IU is done."He didn't, and he didn't define what "it" is. Napleshoosier, Class of '66 Old Fart and HoosierAloha 3 Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 If it's Alford, it will be an all-Alford show and he'll do everything he can to keep the spotlight on his own ego. No thank you. Deserthoozier 1 Quote

If Alford has a deep NCAA tourney run this year, my opinion will change. Hoosier Guy Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 Alford was never gonna be the coach. The media just liked to portray that as fact Class of '66 Old Fart 1 Quote

theriverpilot Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 I would be legit shocked if we don't have a strong chance at Billy Donovan to coach at IU. I agree and I would see Marshall as a settle hireSent from my iPhone using BtownBanners HoosierSadaseci and RedsIUfan 2 Quote

Yogi's Picnic Basket Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 I'm still scared that Glass will hire Wittman or Woodson.Sent from my SM-G935P using BtownBanners mobile appWoodson said he would answer if called but havent seen Wittman comment on it. Both had good years in the NBA but once their style was more known teams adjusted and they struggled. Would love either on the coaching staff just not the Head Coach.Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app I'd certainly be pleased for FG to get input from Woodie and Randy. Both have an abundance of basketball knowledge and experience. Since neither has been part of a college staff (and had to deal with recruiting), I don't believe they'd be candidates for the HC job. I'd guess they're both quite comfortable financially, so they wouldn't likely want to be assistant coaches at any level at this time in their lives. But it sure would be sweet if they could be involved with the program and impart some of their collected wisdom on our players. HoosierSadaseci and Tom White 2 Quote
WestCoastView Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 We know for sure we don't know who is coaching IU yet. We don't need an IU GUY! We need a young, cerebral tactician with a proven record of winning. Offer Brad Stevens $5 million + incentives and reap the rewards from national branding and marketing once the National Championships start rolling in. Gahoosierfan 1 Quote
