Yeah I don't understand how you pretty much go from "billy Donovan is a done deal and there will be a press conference this week" to "yeah billy isn't coming" something has to give

Again, there was never anything definitive about a press conference this week.  It was a maybe more than anything even from the posters most optimistic about Donovan.

For the sake of positivity....I will refer back to Glass's comments and the impression I got from the presser- that IU/Glass are swinging for the fence and will do their utmost to make that happen.

Which was a bold move on his part because if they do swing for the fence and have to "settle" then it looks really bad on our blue blood self image.

I'm not much more than a lurker on both boards but fwiw 0708 was adamant Crean was gone when media "insiders" said he wasn't, and if my memory serves, came out with "he's gone" minutes before it broke on twitter last Thursday.   For full disclosure , I want Donovan.

I'm not saying the rumor that he's not coming is false. But 1 of the rumors has to Be false lol. He can't come and go at the same time

You're absolutely correct. MSB/Priller is the only one with that sort of superpower!

I'm done listening to sources lol. They'll probably know the day it happens or maybe even the day before. Way too wishy washy for my liking, which probably means they're adding their own thoughts to each post

Here's what I believe:

No one knows a damn thing and I need to get back to work. Time for a break from ever changing rumor mill. I mean we hear Geno Auriemma's name last night. I mean, come on.

Here's a question that ran through my head last night: How would you compare Alford at IU versus Painter at PU?  (Both are former players and experienced coaches, with modest success in the NCAA tourney).

Painter does not have all the baggage that Alford will bring. Also, Painter sat under Keady for a number of years and was groomed to be the next PUke coach.

Alford has left a trail of bad ju-ju in his wake. Alford has pretty much groomed himself.

I'd take Painter in a heartbeat over Alford.

Funny how things change in a day. By this time yesterday, there were posters on this board and others coming out of the woodwork with rumors about Billy Donovan being IU's new coach.

Give me Bennett.. His teams play hard nosed basketball and you can tell they are very well coached with a game plan coming into every game. Unlike our most recent regime.

Not that he's who we'll end up with, but for those of you who think that Fife accomplished nothing or has had next to no head coaching experience, below is the "before and after" record of IPFW surrounding Dane's five year stint as a D1 head coach:

2001–2002[3] Doug Noll 7–21
2002–2003[4] Doug Noll 9–21
2003–2004[5] Doug Noll 3–25
2004–2005[6] Doug Noll (3–13)

Joe Pechota (4–9)[7]

7–22
2005–2006[8] Dane Fife 10–18
United Basketball Conference (NCAA Division I) (2006–2007)
2006–2007[9] Dane Fife 12–17 6–4 3rd
The Summit League (NCAA Division I) (2007–present)
2007–2008[10] Dane Fife 13–18 9–9 5th
2008–2009[11] Dane Fife 13–17 8–10 5th
2009–2010[12] Dane Fife 16–15 9–9 5th
2010–2011[13] Dane Fife 18–12 11–7 4th
2011–2012 Tony Jasick 11–19 5–13 T–8th
2012–2013 Tony Jasick 16–17 7–9

Bennett's teams are soooo boring. I love great defense but at the same time, when you can't score, the other team always has a chance. This comes true in tournament, neutral floor and away games. I'd rather score and keep turnovers to a minimum.
